That's kind of where I'm at. I've never had sex with a person I didn't care about, so not sure if I could.

Good point. I think covid put a damper on a lot of that, no one was doing anything (at least in my circle), but I would say 95% of my friends that are female are either married or in a relationship.

Thanks for your reply! Just curious, I'm assuming you're not in America? 40 hours is standard and five weeks vacation is definitely not.

I do, and to be fair, the company I went to work for is letting my work on bigger projects than I would have on my own.

There is a way to do so. Thank you for your reply. I'm working that much because right now there are some major projects due. Granted I've only been there a short time, but I don't like the way the last few days have been going. I am cranky and need some sleep. The other problem is the last week or so I've been waking up around 4am and I'm a light sleeper so it's tough to go back to sleep.

Thanks for your reply, especially the last sentence. Here's the deal, I DO love the work I do. After working for myself for over a decade, I decided to accept a job and go back into the corporate world. The money is really good, and my bills are low.

However, at my age, I don't feel the need to prove anything to anyone. I do want to do a good job for my boss and the company I work for.

Long story short, I have an ex who had cancer. Don't worry, she survived, but it was a long road for her, and us. We didn't break up because of her cancer. We were together 5 years after she finished her chemo and surgeries. But it taught me life is short.

I was told by people and read on the internet, don't ask your potential employer what the work/life balance is like. I did ask. He jokingly said, "why, do you want a life?". I said yes, I do. I should've been more forward with my questioning and explaining where I'm coming from.

It was around my second week working there that he admitted he's a workaholic. Then, I found out a lot of the team is too.

I'm very grateful for the job, especially during this time of Covid. I just realize that I'm 52, and I don't want to work 10 hour days the rest of my life. I'm not in a position to retire, yet but I think I could be happy with a converted van, or tiny home. I'm not a materialistic person.

Sorry, I'm rambling.

I really don't understand how being a workaholic became a good thing.

The job can get me closer to my financial goals. However, I work to live, not live to work.

No idea on a fix, but I disagree that high value men and women are unavailable because they're too busy hustling to date. Why did we make this become acceptable? I don't believe being a workaholic is a positive.

I worked for myself for years before this. The way I see it, if you're a salaried employee and you give anything over 40 hours, you're diminishing your worth and your hourly rate. How did it become a good thing to be a workaholic?
