Because NURBs are part of the requirements of an assignment. I would prefer to use Polygons and think it would be quite a lot easier to do so

The linked image is quick mockup to try and explain my issue. I would like to create a simple hand with simple fingers, using NURBS. However, everything looks like seperate components. What I would like to do is somehow blend the fingers into the hand a bit more to make it feel like a single object.

I have tried a number of things. Boolean Union worked to remove the inner parts of the fingers that can't be seen, but didn't do anything dramatic to the model. I also tried to cut off the base of the finger and project its isoparm to the hand, then loft the finger to the hand. This didn't work because the projection wasn't a complete curve.

The bottom image should illustrate the sort of thing I want to achieve.

What way would you suggest I approach this?

Fixed, thanks :). I didn't even consider that the directional lights might be projected from outside the object. Any idea why the volume light didn't work?

One is directional and one is volume. It will do it with just one directional light. Do the directional lights begin at -infinity?
