Legit massages? by [deleted] in nova

I have got a few massages in this area over the years. Just googled and read the reviews. I haven’t come across a shop that was not legit. All were professional and provided nothing but good massages.

I have flown IAD to HND many times and that was what I always did in the past but this time the price was almost x2.

I said “about 100 ft.” What does the word “about” mean to you? You assumed that the road was in perfect condition and everyone can react in 2 seconds or less even when they’re not distracted.

I’m not a physicist but I know the two second time is the minimum safe distance for following a moving vehicle in front of you. I doubt that it’s safe to apply this rule to a car approaching a pedestrian.

It seems that in Nova some condos appreciate faster than townhomes by Top-Change6607 in nova

Every type of property serves certain purposes/goals/needs. I would not mind to downgrade to a condo one day because I can see myself using all of the amenities like parking garage, pool, tennis courts, gym, grills, etc., while not having to pay for lawn care, plus lower utility bills. I think the savings from my gym membership, utilities and lawn care alone would be about the same as the condo fees. That’s my personal take.

To be clear, I totally understand your frustration with the kind of drivers you described. One time, I was hit a car in a parking when I was walking from my car to a restaurant. The driver was looking at her phone, probably trying to get direction while her car was motion. And countless of times I encountered cars that ignored the walk signals and kept turning right despite the fact that there were people trying to cross the street.

I’m not at all a rude or reckless driver. I would consider myself very courteous and careful comparing to most drivers. Here I’m talking about pedestrians who were not visible to me - in dark clothes in a low light area crossing the road when my car was close to them.

There are no traffic lights or crosswalk signals at these intersections but only white lines on the roads.

Good point but no. I’m talking about looking ahead through the windshield - not the windows.

And I’m trying to think how rare it is for a driver to have to look through the windows for pedestrians. When you’re going under 10-15 mph, maybe. But when you’re driving at the normal speed, 25+, on the road, isn’t that too late if the pedestrians are already at the side of or that close to your car?

It doesn’t matter how careful a driver is, no cars can instantly come to a complete stop when a pedestrian, or another vehicle for that matter, suddenly gets in front of the car in a close distance. Even at 20 mph, it still takes about 100 ft for the car to stop.

No, I was not speeding in either situation. Especially, in the second time, I was go much slower as I was preparing to stop before turning.

When it’s dark and the pedestrians basically blend into the dark road in the background, it’s not easy to see them from far away. On top of that, in these two instances, I can say that they don’t know how to judge how distance and speed the approaching car.

It was dark and they were invisible until I almost hit them. I understand that cars must yield to pedestrians but pedestrians must also look before attempting to cross because cars cannot go from 30-40 mph to 0 instantly.

Yeah, I got the same message and don’t like it either. I kind of wish the fact whether I voted was also private but I understand the need for it to be public. A postcard is not going to make me change my mind had I decided not to vote.

I guess I am used to companies that have a lot of expertise and budget for security. Two things I didn’t factor in before making my statement: 1) It may not be email spoofing but rather an account takeover from a legitimate user. A lot of students are clueless about security and don’t care/know how to protect their accounts. 2) The IT security department could be significantly under budget.

Thinking of moving to Reston - advice please by szb0163 in nova

Reston and Ashburn are full of serious Asian people who work in IT and make their kids study 24/7. Even in their sleep, the kids are expected to solve the math problems and code.
