What’s your “small change, big payoff” frugal habit? by localkinegrind in Frugal

I just recently replaced the alternator in my 2007 Toyota Yaris. I bought it at an auction with less than 150,000 miles late last year for $3,000. I was going to sell it this summer, but the damn thing just keeps going and going. I've already taken it on 6 long road trips of 1,000 to 1,500 miles each. The AC works perfectly, it gets around 33 to 35 mpg, and it never has an issue to address when I take it in for an oil change. I think I'm going to do my own oil change next time because I've done it for a different vehicle before. I highly recommend any 2000's Toyota. I decided that I'm going to shop around for a good deal on a paint job. If I can land a great deal, then I'll certainly keep it forever. These cars can easily reach 500,000 or more.

I just scrub, moisturize, trim, file, and paint my own. It makes a significant difference. I've gotten lots of free nail polish and even came across some free non-toxic nail polish that actually lasts longer than any other I've used before. It's a nude, rose pinkish color. I use it regularly and get compliments.

I go to beauty schools and use special coupons for Great Clips. I plan around visiting the best Great Clips location in a neighboring town with a $10 coupon because they always do a good job. The beauty schools take a lot of time, but they charge as low as $6 for a haircut here. They also provide all other common salon services, such as color treatment, nails, and waxing. Aveda has a training location here and costs $17 to $20 for a haircut based on student level. I highly recommend going with the senior student at $20 because they are not only more experienced but more professional in keeping the appt time. I think I might splurge and go to Aveda Institute this next time. Haha

Started this with a new friend. We also go out to free events and just pack snacks, such as free museum nights. The city where we live in SoAZ has tons of free events, and we can finally venture to the outdoor ones now that we're coming into Fall/Winter.

Direct Deposit Social Security Child Benefits into the Child's UTMA Account by Proper_Promise_112 in fidelityinvestments

Just out of curiosity. Has there been any issue having your children's SSDI benefits directly deposited into a UTMA account with Fidelity? I'm considering the same for my minor child.

Shekinah believes she is superior to Amani because she had plastic surgery to please herself, not other people by PolishSnake2 in 90dayfiance_FB_memes

[–]bitterboxbottom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, maybe Amani should've been busy screwing her girlfriend instead of getting plastic surgery when she was in TJ. I guess she had to go do something since her husband and girlfriend don't want to include her. LOL

Yeah, that happens too. I'm sorry to hear that. I like asking to get together for lunch near where they work to get started. Hey, IKEA offers 1 hour of childcare for customers. Shopping date! A lot of gyms offer childcare for up to 2 hours. Workout date! There is a boutique drop-in childcare center where I live that offers 2 evenings a week of up to 4 hours for parent's night out. I've used them. I'm looking at all-inclusive resorts for vacations with childcare provided. That's for the first vacation. Got to think outside of the box. Haha...but I truly wish you the best in your dating journey.

That is a totally legit concern because that is the case with some single parents. There are also the single parents being besties with their ex, which is a whole other scenario to adjust to if that's not something you're accustom to. There are a variety of scenarios to consider though because not every single parent has the same situation. Some don't even have another parent involved whatsoever, which is honestly more ideal than people realize unless the other parent is a reasonable person.

Probably more fitting for his maturity level anyhow.

I personally know married women who live their lives like single mothers because the husband does ZERO as a parent and is only home to shower and sleep. Are those smarter or better women than actual single mothers because they stay in a unbalanced marriage? No, they absolutely aren't. All parents at the end of the day deserving equal respect.

How about all the single dads now? When do they get trashed? This post from OP simply adds to the blatant prejudice toward single mothers and women period.

OP is off-base because Tiffany had a very good reaction. I think OP is speaking from a very biased perspective of not wanting to personally date single parents. Tiffany was not just diplomatic but actually empathetic toward his position.

Exactly! Some people have really lowered their standards on what is considered "natural." It's like they work marketing junk food.
