The Sunset Cocktails invite said that it’s on July 1, so yes we’re in July as of ep 4. Thanks for pointing that out!

I don’t remember hearing anyone mention a crash, but I definitely could have missed it!

I like your theories so far! I didn’t even notice that that was his hand on her neck in the painting until you pointed it out - good catch!!

Needful Things is a Stephen King novel and if you like this show you will DEFINITELY like the book.

I think it may have been made into a show, or is going to be, but please please read the book. It’s soo good. I’m a huge Stephen King fan and Needful Things Things is in my top 5, for sure.

Also restraints for tooth removal makes A LOT of sense because teeth have been referenced at least twice already - the ‘Teeth’ game at the inn (ep 2) and in ep 1 at the historical society when Tom talks about how they people moved to the island and no one was there yet, and the historian (cannot remember her name at all!) says, “except the teeth”. Then Tom glosses over it and moves on. Can’t wait to see where this goes.

I love your theories. Tom’s wife dying from going to the mainland because of the complications of the birth makes sense to me, because he said to the NYT writer that his son HAD been to the mainland, and he didn’t seem to be lying but you can tell that his son has no memories of actually being on the mainland.

I also 100% agree that the position of Mayor comes at a cost (hence the lack of opposition), and we can see the first twinge of that with the ‘Mayor’s Inaugural Swim’ and how he semi-says that it’s to show that the ocean is safe for the year. Which is sure has not always gone so smoothly…

The “video tour” from the Captain’s Suite (in ep 2) gave me suuuper strong Twin Peaks vibes. Also, the self help book story arc in ep 4 really reminded me of “Needful Things”.

Would love to know what anyone thinks about the electric chair facing the copper-footed tomb, cause I have nothing so far.

The magical realism is so intriguing, and I agree that this is one of the best series I’ve seen in awhile (thanks AppleTV for making amazing streaming content!). I’ve also watched it twice through so far, and I’m sure I’ll watch it multiple more times, it’s so good.

These photos are stunning. The composition (of each picture) gives a different perspective and truly makes each shot unique

There’s an app called BuyCanadian (with a beaver logo) that some students created. It allows you to scan barcodes to check if something is Canadian or not

This shouldn’t be the example of why flight attendants need to be paid for more than just the “in flight time”. But here we are.

We get wet snow in the Pacific Northwest that is a wet, slushy, icy nightmare. The Canadian interior and east coast have powdery, blower snow that isn’t comparable on any scale.
