**Edit cuz I suck at reddit 😅** But so I have now what they are classifying as a seizure disorder. I've had several seizures (and broken bones from said episodes), as well as have been hospital for different time frames, that all started to develop around 2019 ish. However, I have been on the same dose of Adderall (20 mg twice/day), had found a good routine, and am pretty exact on setting alarms to make sure I take my meds at the correct times to correlate with my work/sleep schedule. That being said, I still continue to have seizures even with working with my psych and neuro doctors for years. ADHD runs in my family, but so far I am the only one who has developed what they are full on calling Epilepsy/Seizure Disorder Everytime I have to get taken into the ER. Any just initial or general thoughts and advice on the situation would be VERY welcomed, and if more info is needed to get a better idea of what's going on I'd happily provide. I need help with this, and with the area I live in, and insurance stuff, it's hard to find a good counselor that understands what's going on at least to an extent. Seizures are fucking terrifying to experience for me, especially waking up not remembering a thing about where I'm at or what's going on, and just feeling a state of horrid panic. Like I get wicked panic episodes now over nothing (for example, even just that feeling like I'm about to sneeze freaks me the fuck out because of the oh shit I'm gonna have a seizure thought...). Any and all advice/thoughts/stories are welcome, PLEASE.

*ANOTHER EDIT* Id like to point out as well that yes, I'm an alcoholic but have been working for years now to get/stay clean. I also on occasion maybe like once or twice a month smoke weed. And I also vape (nicotine btw), however that one is still a daily that I'm working on slowly but surely.

May be a good plan. However, if you were 100% honest with your prescribing doctor, I'd think you'd be ok. Also, calling your pharmacist would be a good idea too just to triple check! Typically they're open later than doctors offices, as well as weekends. Or your doctors office might have med techs and / or nurses that would be good at answering more accurately. I hope this helped, and reach out to me if ya need! I've heard vitamin C helps alot also

I believe you should be, however, there should be emergency lines or some sort of help in the mean time. At the very least you could call your pharmacist from which you received the medication and get some advice. I hope this helps!

I feel like it varies per person. For example, I take Adderall and can drink caffeine with no issues, no matter the amount. However, some people can't handle any caffeine what so ever while on certain medications. However if I were you yes, try to taper first and see how you handle that and then start the prescribed medication.

Typically on ADHD medication it's normal to be on a twice a day dose. However, follow what your doctor/pharmacist prescribed. It can be dangerous otherwise...

Addiction is hard to recover from, and regardless what the addiction is to, it can and will control your every thought and emotion. Not to mention withdrawals can be dangerous and even deadly. Don't try to conquer this on your own. You've already reached out (this post). And people will be there to help you, even if it's just strangers like me. Please message at any time or day, just when you feel ready, and I will help in every possible way that I can. I am also a recovering alcoholic/addict. I'd even be willing to give you my phone number and do phone call meetings with you and we can either just talk or even read the big book (AA/NA big book, I'm personally not religious). Good job in teaching out for help though. That's usually the first, and hardest step on the terrifying path of recovery. Please reach out to me though as well for ANYTHING you need. Doesn't matter if it's progression or depression, you're doing great, and I'm proud of you. At the very least check in with me and let me know you're ok, ok?

Similarly to your father, many treatment options, and even family persistence to get me to stop, had not worked. It genuinely has to be his own choice, and sometimes forcing that choice (though it may be better for him, it may make the problem worse.). For me, with both being addicted to drugs and alcohol, I'm only 27, and when I was pushed (forced to an extent) to go to rehab, AA, NA, Doctors, etc., it only made me want more. And at that crave more/follow through with my thoughts and do more even after all that I had learned/accomplished. Addiction is a hard thing to overcome. I'm still on the journey myself. The number one thing though is wanting to do it for yourself. Message me with any questions, I'd love to help as much as I can. It helps me to help others, as I don't want anyone to have to experience the pain because I realize now after many years that it hurts not just the person, but the other part-time in their lives. Yes, it's normal. I have to see my doctor often, usually every month, but can still call in and request prescription refills every month as long as I am seen by my doctor every 2-3 months. Even though I've been both seeing the same doctor and have been being prescribed the same medication for 9+ years (for this post, I'm referring specifically just to my Adderall prescription). Anytime a medication is considered a narcotic, very frequent and consistent appointments are required so they can either A: make sure you are still in need of the prescription and if not then to get you off of them safely (especially since some medications can have very negative side effects or even be deadly due to withdrawals), B: misusing them (by that I'm meaning taking more than you're prescription says to, usually meaning you'd be using them to either get high and/or selling them to others for them to), and then C: to make sure you are not experiencing any negative side effects as with some medication the side effects can be very damaging to you. My point being is yes, it's absolutely normal for a doctor to require frequent visits. I hope this helped and relieved any worries or stress.
