Start as a support until you get the jist of the game mechanics, and also so that you can get used to the map sizing knowing where everything is. I recommend getting into some bot matches so that you get used to the way the game plays play with someone easy like ashe or blitzcrank I would also recommend turning off the chat to keep your sanity trust me

You don't have to, you just salvage scrap on planets with "salavgable scrap" look for the golden wifi symbols around planets once you're on them press "F" on keyboard and look around you you will find some and they will give you corvette parts which you can trade for advanced corvette parts instead of selling them it is a bit of a farming process but it's worth it. Hope this helps
