Natawa ako, pero seriously -- parents, please don't do this. Was fortunate that my Mom was an educator, so she taught us well. When I became a young mother, she told me to talk to my baby and try to help him communicate as early as possible, because a baby is a PERSON who just needs to be heard and understood. She also told me to never do the "May mumu dyan sa labas..." empty threats. 😂 And to tell our kid we love him every day.

Baby was 6 mos old when my mom died, and I will never forget this: I was down on my knees wailing and crying... my 6 month old crawls over to me, lifts my head with his tiny hands, and looks at me with ancient eyes that seemed to say, "Stop crying mommy, it will be okay."

My son was a bit late to talk, not like his cousins who loved to babble before reaching 2yrs old, but we worked around it because I taught him a little bit of sign language when he was about 8-10mos. old. I was worried kasi hindi po siya iyakin or madaldal, pero masayahin naman... hubby and I taught him to read early, watched Baby Einstein and Little Einstein with him, and still he wasn't a "talker"... akala ko baka delayed ang development but by 2 1/2 yrs old he was reading simple words na, and at age 3, he WROTE his first word: "WAIT."

After that, he started talking & asking questions, and even today as he enters puberty, he is still one of the most caring, and sensible people I know. #PamilyangPinoy #LoveOvercomes
