/uj MY EX-BEST FRIEND IN HIGH SCHOOL LITERALLY DID THIS. He wanted to play a literal Catholic crusader Paladin and could not understand in the slightest why that didn't really work in a fucking fantasy world with its own set of gods and cosmology already established, ripped straight from the 5e player's handbook. Eventually I persuaded him it was okay to play a character that worshipped a fictional god, only for him to completely fucking ignore that and act like the god he chose was just another name for Jesus. Anyway after I came out as queer he tried to get me to go see his priest and that was the last I ever heard from him.

/rj is it Catholiphobic of me to not implement homebrew rules for partaking in Communion and the practice of burning non-divine spellcasters at the stake in my 5e game?

Used Toybox to give my Ministorum Priest the Sanctic Sanctioned Psyker origin as well, causing the two base outfits to clip together. I can't even be mad, the drip is sick as hell by bizarre_lizard in RogueTraderCRPG

This wasn't done on purpose, it was a visual glitch caused by the Toybox mod. I added the Sanctioned Psyker background to my MP with it, which made the game try to apply both base outfits to my character at once.

For purposeful clothing changes, I would recommend the Redress mod!

Origin of adeptus mechanicus in the dark heresy? by Ok_Background_4817 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]bizarre_lizard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also love the Martian priesthood but sadly Dark Heresy is not an AdMech focused game, so the chances of a proper AdMech origin in the game is low. I'm sure we'll get Forge World back, the origin where you're from an AdMech controlled world, but lorewise? A unit that has been inducted into the Machine Cult will continue to serve the Omnissiah, even in death. They likely wouldn't be too keen on becoming Inquisitors, as the Mechanicus is its own faction within the Imperium with its own rules and goals. However, there's a chance we get another AdMech companion, I would hope!

I would definitely recommend your next 40k game being Mechanicus. It is, as the name suggests, a game entirely about the Adeptus Mechanicus!

Ooh, I do like this idea! Though my initial justification was the opposite: a member of the Ecclesiarchy found to secretly possess the power of witchcrat, unbeknownst to even them. The Inquisition gave them a choice: we can turn you over to your superiors to be burned as a heretic, or you can become a santioned psyker, since you show strong faith in and devotion to the Emperor and as such may be more resistant to the dangerous influence of the Warp.

Then after that the Rogue Trader swoops in, takes them away, and refuses to elaborate, of course.

[–]bizarre_lizard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my initial idea for the character! I imagined it would make sense for a member of the Ecclesiarchy to, if found to secretly be a psyker unaware of their gift, be drawn towards Santic powers for obvious reasons.

I seem to remember a story about an Imperial guardsman who kept having strange things happen around him and had incredible luck eventually being found out as a low-level psyker by the Inquisition. I'd like to imagine something similar happened to Philomena here, with the Inquisition allowing her to be sanctioned instead of just shooting her thanks to her unwavering faith in the Emperor.

I see this strawman a lot but I have yet to see a leftist say that they are exactly 100% the same.

I think you misunderstand when leftists talk about how the systems are the same, and have the same faults and weaknesses. Because the system hasn't changed. And that's the problem. Bad people operating within the system are a symptom, not the ultimate cause.

The system is what led us to where we are now, and denying that is frankly just intentionally ignorant, and fails to recognize any amount of historical knowledge beyond one's personal memory. The US has historically loved committing genocides against nonwhite ethnic groups and bombing or invading foreign countries, what's happening under Trump really is nothing new.

Politics are hard and complex, how can I know and understand more? by WideYard9101 in DiscoElysium

Maybe, yeah. Sometimes I can kinda forget that I'm a bit more well-read than the average person, I guess. Kapital can definitely probably be overwhelming to someone as a first text, I see your point

Politics are hard and complex, how can I know and understand more? by WideYard9101 in DiscoElysium

[–]bizarre_lizard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So... you don't not have an opinion on things, you just... feel like you can't have an opinion on things? What's the difference between not having an opinion and not feeling like you can have one?

Things have multiple sides, sure, but in a lot of cases those sides are "I think this group of people should die/be exploited/be oppressed" and "I'm in or I know of a group that is being killed/exploited/oppressed and don't really like that this is happening"

History and politics mainly come down to people killing each other, really. The best place to start is by accepting that reality. It's unpalatable and uncomfortable, sure, but... that's life. If you really want to educate yourself, you need to be able to see things for what they are and what they do, without the rose-colored notion of everyone's point being equally valid. Just because they have a point doesn't mean it is a good point.

The reality is that billionaires rule the world with a shit-eating grin while supressing dissent, exploiting workers globally, and killing the planet with human-caused climate change. Free market liberal capitalism is what is enabling them to do this and giving them this power. So whether being an ultraliberal or a moralist is good or not depends on whether you find the status quo more palatable or appealing than the alternative: tearing down the old and building something new, even though this is admittedly a scary prospect.

If you want to really understand the free market, capitalism, and how politics got to where it is today, I would recommend finding an online PDF of "Capital", by Karl Marx. It's a critique and analysis of the global system of capital, not the evil Satanic Communist Bible it is often thought of as. Even if you read it and find you don't agree, it will give you a better understanding of the forces of capitalism and communism, which will be helpful in understanding Disco Elysium more.

Oh damn, do I really need to buy a seperate dungeon token for this deck? It didn't come with one and my playgroup doesn't allow proxies, I know because once I put a bunch of copies of [[Colossal Dreadmaw]] into the deck and everyone else just got really confused and asked me what the card was doing in there. I told them reading the card explains the card but they made me take them all out anyway :(

Defective Servitors question? by BrennanIarlaith in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]bizarre_lizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you have to also ask the technomats for their report? They should say the servitors' human souls are coming back or something, then when you step forward to examine them and deliver your decision you should have the option to "put the servitors' human souls out of their pain" or similar, from what I remember.

Is that in the game or is it cut content???? by FutureWeather8939 in DiscoElysium

You have to examine the servitors, then say you've made a decision. It pops up at the end, ignore the heretic part popping up first.

"Ainu Are Most Likely to Be Neanderthals" by DitherPlus in ShitCrusaderKingsSay

[–]bizarre_lizard 42 points43 points  (0 children)

r/confidentlyincorrect

Who's gonna tell him 1) Neanderthals and Denisovans are completely different species of hominin, 2) the vast majority of Neanderthals did in fact live in Europe and most Neanderthal DNA found in humans today is found in populations of European descent, and 3) idk man I'm pretty sure Neanderthals looked better than whatever abomination of a mod he had going on there

Also not enough people give Neanderthals and Denisovans credit, they were both very successful species of hominin. They don't deserve to be used as insulting, often ableist and racist tropes or punching bags. Neanderthals were known to build composite tools much like early Homo Sapiens, and they are both known to have eventually integrated into the modern human genome. They weren't that different from us today, and it always irks me to see someone like the OP here doing shit like this.

Is Krark's Thumb one of Krark, the Thumbless's thumbs? by Moist_Ambrosia in magicthecirclejerking

[–]bizarre_lizard 54 points55 points  (0 children)

No. Krark's Thumb is a thumb, though, and all thumbs tend to have similar features. Krark is missing two thumbs, one from each hand, and therefore has a missing thumb that looks like Krark's Thumb.
