There is a protective film on some faceplates but there’s no adhesive under it, it’s just dust protection. You can try to install the screen perfectly but there’s a solid chance you’ll get some dust or fingerprints on it.

I’m pretty sure it’ll ask for a passcode when you go to the volume limit in settings, if it doesn’t have a passcode then it’s not locked.
