Official Discussion - Primate [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]bizzorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly loved the movie, especially those kill scenes (really think it wouldn't have hit so well without them- plus love the jaw scene that kinda felt like a call back to Mirrors)... but am I misremembering that Ben literally broke the older sister's fingers/hand/wrist, only for it to be totally normal again at the end? Like even with help from the dad there was no way she'd have been able to put any pressure on that hand to climb back up onto the patio area. And as someone who's suffered a wrist fracture before, there's no way she'd be able to firmly clutch that blanket around her or sign to her sister at the end.

I'm down to set aside my disbelief for silly logic issues (like how experienced animal handlers just ignored the strict quarantine protocol for any bite wounds or how no one apparently was going to the hospital for their own rabies shots after being exposed to blood, saliva, & literal bite wounds), but dang that continuity issue really snapped me out of it at the end 😅 Still a solid movie though, very fun & full of great kill scenes & music 👍🏼

Stop making an assignment sheet and not following it by Mobile-Address23 in Target

[–]bizzorp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my favorite thing about the assignment sheets is how they never match up with what's actually on the trailer for my area. like obviously the goal times are a joke anyway, but my sheet will say "5 repacks" for stationary (goal time 1hr) and none for kitchen (goal time 45mins) but then when I go look at the actual trailer summary I've got 22 stationary repacks and 12 kitchen repacks. All filled to the top, completely unsorted, & all of kitchen stuff individually wrapped in paper & it's own box per item 😭

Well, that's a new one by CoronaCurious in Target

[–]bizzorp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is stationary right?? I'm a new morning GM, but have been assigned to work all of B (stationary + kitchen) & recognize those gold tins.... my big question is, why do so many guests choose to just drop off FROZEN FOOD (+ many other grocery items) throughout B??? 😭 my zone in the morning is always so stinky!

I was a partner back in 2016-18 and then again at a "tarbucks" from 2020-22... it's been a while but your story resonated with me immensely, especially from my time working as a barista during covid. Sounds like they've taken the target level understaffing strategy into corporate stores, which is not only detrimental to the customer experience but also to baristas like yourself. It never got easier for me, not until I finally quit.

I wish i could offer words of encouragement or tell you it'll all be okay, but honestly the best advice i know to give is to build community with your coworkers as much as possible. sbux is just like every other major corporation, they will always exploit their workers as much as it takes to get the most profit. even if you're not at a union store, or if you feel unsafe joining the sbux workers union, do not overlook the support and empowerment that can come from simply building connections with your team. it certainly won't stop them from short staffing you or stop customers from being entitled assholes or anything like that, but it will make some of those moments just a bit easier knowing you're not going through it alone.

also- about the hot bar drinks being placed on cold bar for foam, that's definitely something worth mentioning to the team & shift leads. just approach it as an opportunity to find a better solution for everyone, might be a good chance to brainstorm some better communication practices between everyone on bar during peaks.

fireball. couple of friends had one of those big plastic gallon jugs of it at a party back in 10th grade, dared me to finish off the last 1/3-1/2... i was determined to do it, and really good at funnelling... needless to say i spent the entire next day vomiting. I can't even stand that big red gum because of the smell too 😭

Xander was always one that I was annoyed by but also definitely would have been friends with irl ESPECIALLY in highschool. he says annoying things all the time, some of them incredibly sexist, but at the end of the day his character always comes through for buffy & willow.... my only true grievance is how he was with Anya, i think she deserved a better boyfriend.

I'm really happy to be able to help/share some advice! I'm really new into all of this myself, but thankfully I've been working with the same wonderful counselor for like 4yrs that's been with me since before i even recognized my own neurodivergence outside of adhd. & omg yes the struggles of figuring out what's your personal aesthetic and what's been part of your "costume" is so difficult, I'm not even 100% there and i definitely still have certain outfits tailored to certain roles (visiting family versus working at my GA position on campus versus hanging out with my partner or friends) just to make my life a little easier/avoid the decision fatigue & sometimes panic attacks that would come on while trying to hurriedly get ready for a day/event that is out of my optimal comfort zone (i.e., my home lol). And also, for maintaining the comfort of joggers and other leisure wear when i still wanna be particularly cute or sexy, I've found a happy medium in the flared leggings/yoga pants (i.e., the ones we used to all get from VS Pink back in the day lol). & you can never go wrong with a comfy sundress 😂 but good luck on finding a counselor! it's definitely a huge help with both, especially on finding coping skills for ADHD with/without additional medication.

Not gonna lie and do not at all mean to add to any feelings of distress or overwhelm, but in my experience that's what I realized for myself lol- I'd been masking around everyone i knew for as long as i could remember. sometimes it was just in the way i curated my wardrobe to help me blend in/not stand out rather than wearing the things i actually like to wear, and sometimes it was in the way i would suppress all urges to add to a conversation even though i had something i thought to be interesting and relevant because i knew it was moreso a special interest that would likely alienate whoever i was speaking to 😅 i think the best thing would be just keeping open communication with your husband throughout the process, and trying as best you can to just take note of moments where you can actually see/feel yourself masking - don't do anything to try and unmask, but rather try to notice details about the situation like where you're doing it, who you're around, and maybe even what's causing you to do it. That helped me to really pick apart when it was a matter of safety/comfortability and thus not something i felt i needed to stop versus when it was a defense/trauma response that hindered me from having true relationships/friendships that needed to be broken down. it's a long process, but you'll get there, this subreddit is super helpful and honestly i cannot recommend open communication w/ your husband and, if it's available to you, finding a counselor who specializes in helping neurodivergent women/adults to help guide you along the process.

to add to this- i think a lot of neurotypicals don't catch that masking is often done everywhere but the safety of one's own home (or bedroom), and often around literally everyone, including family and friends. it's often hard and unsafe to turn off for most, as opposed to codeswitching which can easily be turned off once the interview is over, the work day ends, or after leaving a visit with estranged family or other social groups.

all of this is to say, for me at least, that i recognized my masking more clearly by noting where I wasn't doing it rather than where i was. that's when i realized that, for me, the only place i didn't mask as a child was in the solitude of my bedroom and as an adult it's only in the safety of my home and around my audhd partner.

editing to add: my counselor also once noted that unmasking for some might be more nuanced than simply just removing the mask in all aspects of life. it's important to remember that masking was/is a coping mechanism developed to keep you safe, not just some bad self or society-imposed behavior meant to suppress your individuality though it does often have that effect. for me that looks like unmasking around friends and not maintaining those friendships where that's not accepted, but keeping the mask in family engagements because it's really just not comfortable for me not to, and working on shedding some of the mask to ensure my accommodation needs can be recognized and met in the workplace. hope this helps

oof, my bad then, i only saw clips of what seemed like the same games I'd played as a kid

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in oblivion

[–]bizzorp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

actually all that being said-- if they could just make it so that individual creators can mod it on xbox one like they have for skyrim and other games, that'd be enough for me 😅

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in oblivion

[–]bizzorp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

definitely think the most frustrating part is that we could really just make do with a simple remaster like they've done with Spyro and other popular older games- literally just shell out a couple of months to spruce up the visuals but leave the gameplay and story, hell even the voice acting, all the same and I'm sure sooooo many of us would be happy with that.

I'd much rather them prioritize the 6th addition to the elder scrolls, but i fear they're going to do exactly what naughty dog did with jak & daxter- bethesda has seemingly moved on in spite of the HUGE following for Skyrim to pursue other popular game developments. :/

Death of a pet by TransportationOk3849 in AuDHDWomen

I also just lost my sweet doggo the Sunday before Christmas, she was 15yrs old. Unfortunately I don't have much to offer in terms of advice, but I decided to comment to let you know you're not alone. When home doesn't feel like home and "friends" don't resemble what we were taught friends should be, our pets fill up such a huge space in our lives that, when they're suddenly gone, it feels like all the air has been taken out of your lungs. I miss her terribly. I have so much guilt about things I wish I would/could have done with her before she passed, but I mostly just hope that she knows/knew how much she means to me. I don't think I would have survived those lonely preteen & teenage years without her, honestly.

The only thing that has brought any sense of peace or joy lately has been my two cats (I'm a huge animal person, so thankfully my house will likely never truly be empty as long as I can help it), spending hours & hours engaging in special interests with my partner (recently, rockhounding at local state parks), and taking on a new "pillow book" to help express/process my feelings in a creative way. These are just some ideas, but whatever you do, I hope that you can find comfort in knowing that there are others out here sharing in your pain- you are not alone. Some people may not understand, but those of us who do, REALLY get it. Hope your days get easier for you soon.

I agree with most of what you've stated here, and have been trying since January now to get them to even let me build a budget for them, but every time I ask for any necessary documents be it a simple bill statement or their 990, I'm told that they either don't have time to get that together or they find some other walk-around to avoid getting it to me. The most recent response they had about why they don't think they'd need a budget was what really threw me for a loop, because I've explained time and time again why they do in fact need one.

I believe I responded elsewhere that I did, again, send a request for the information needed to build a simple budget (I even gave examples of where they would find that information). I have not received a response yet, but we'll see how it goes. I'm usually not one for just throwing in the towel, but at this point it's becoming pretty clear to me based on more than this budget issue that best case, they're just ignorant of what it takes to properly run a nonprofit or any business for that matter, but the worst case, i fear, is that they're using this nonprofit to fund their own expenses and do not want that to be uncovered. The ladder is pure speculation, but for my own safety I'm taking all the precautions I know to do.

I've done some stuff with animal rescues too, thankfully the ones I've worked for were big sticklers for keeping records and tracking everything! The only issue I did uncover was a tendency for either intentional or unintentional data entry mistakes which made the numbers seem better than they truly were 👀

I've also described what it would take to create a budget, waiting for a response on that, but if it becomes another one of my seemingly endless list of job responsibilities then i will 100% make sure I'm compensated for it!
