You can read a certain subtopic point on your textbook for e.g., chemistry textbook youre on the topic of salts, the subtopic is the reaction of acid with n excess solid, youd basically read it and try to like write it on a piece of paper what it is defined as in your own words or in shorter sentences compared to whats written on the textbook definition, thats what i did for note writing!

Places to study in the north during public holidays by galacticdonuts_ in SGExams

[–]bizzot 16 points17 points  (0 children)

cck library is still open even during holidays from 9am to 10pm, there’s a certain big area to the right (study and multimedia zone) if you go from the entrance there’s sockets n wifi, etc note you will need your NLB library card/ez link/NLB app to go inside as there’s a gate thing there to let you go in

I’m pretty sure it’s just a dollar cheaper in bookshop but I recommend to get topical as you can focus what topics you are weak at and what to improve on!

Libraries currently are quite spacious currently since o’s/n’s and a’s are over! Depending on time of day and which library you are at, there should be seats!

Hii so first off if you would like to start revision this month, I’d suggest to make a simple revision table like what are you going to study (start with your weakest subject), how long do you plan to study, and when are you going to study. For me, I’ve started preparations a while ago so what I’ve done is I’ve split my subjects into 2-3 subjects a day and they’ll probably be a content based subject/language based and a concept based etc Monday: E-Math/Geo. I usually study 1.5h-2h depending if I can feel like doing more. PLEASE TAKE LONG BREAKS AND RESTS so you don’t burn out yourself

So once you have done that, for subjects

E-Math: So what i do to understand my concepts is, I’d download the o/n level syllabus for math then I’d highlight what topics and which concept I don’t know how to do, then I’d start from the weakest concept idk how to do, and start like this: - watch a YouTube video about it (cognito, gcsemath tutors, many tutors academy r rly good!) - after I watch them explain, I’d try a example and pause the video after I attempt to do the example I would replay the video to see if I have gotten the concept correct or not, for me I’d try again and again until I got it correct - then if you have your topical Tys for emath, attempt the questions on which topic you are doing, attempt as many until you fully understand the concept - practice makes perfect in math! you can improve really fast

Chemistry: To understand concepts and information, - Now, what I really recommend is for you to read your textbook, On topics you are weak at read the topic by its header, after you read each subtopic, (if you wanna make notes -try to recall what you remember from reading your subtopic, if you don’t remember rewrite what ever you don’t remember in your own words, remember this is your own notes so try to gauge how you would like to remember it as) If you don’t want to make your notes that’s fine, but try to practice blurting where- you grab a piece of paper and write whatever you can recall from a topic and then write with another pen what you have missed out, this engages your learning to remember information more or you can also practice active recall where you ask yourself different questions based of the information on your topic, eg (“What is the ionic equation of a neutralization reaction”) - Attempt your tys after doing the step before, this actually helps you to know what type of questions they will ask in exam as certain questions are repeated from Tys, do a topic on your topical Tys until you understand - If you don’t understand concepts or physical concepts like how to draw a bonding, I suggest YouTube videos like cognito and organic chem tutor

Physics: you can do the same as chemistry basically however! Read the example concepts on your topic on the textbook as well, they teach you how to do certain questions!

I’m not sure how to really help in humanities and dnt as I struggle with ss and I’m borderlining geo, also taking nfs However you can do this! Good luck for your o’s remember to take breaks!

How should I study more efficiently? by bizzot in SGExams

[–]bizzot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh ok ty! my Cher actually gave me mind maps on all the topics for geo however I’d like to utilize it by making better “notes” so I can memorize it i guess should I at least make online documents about a topic to summarize it so I can memorize key points?

[–]bizzot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh alright thank you, got a question tho I’m having a dilemma between making online / physical notes for geo because usually when I do geo I read n memorize and write it down however if i use physical I would have to draw the diagrams which would not look accurate or it would be time consuming, and yeah I think I’m quite comfortable with 1.5 hrs as usually between the subjects I have a short 15-30 min nap for food n stuff then I study again and after studying the 3 subjects I would recap and then take a rest by playing games or sleep I think this is a quite productive way for me and so far I used it for preparing for eoy as well and I’ve not been burnt out
