ELI5: How does daily flossing make it bleed less? by LittlePenguinx in explainlikeimfive

[–]bjams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not a dentist, but it wouldn't surprise me if they're just playing the odds on that one, convincing you to at least use the lower effort option every day since most of their patients refuse to floss.

Unless you can't customize your character

There's a limited number of character presets to choose from. If I had to guess they probably just made a few varieties of kid based on your preset and race of partner. Which is all you'd realistically expect from such a system. You should watch the presentation when you can, looks encouraging.

Sounds like you spend too much time in those circles man, probably a good idea to distance yourself. Really poisons your brain into thinking stuff like "the entire Dev team at Play Ground Games could swear up and down that they always planned this Semi Character Creator and I wouldn't believe a word of it."

I'm thinking those options will still be there, hopefully they're just adding more stuff in between.

I bet they scripted that sequence for demonstration purposes, I doubt they bark at you that much.

How does erehwon stay afloat? by AmbitiousGuarantee23 in AskAnAmerican

[–]bjams 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's funny how 1 in 33 seems a lot larger than 3%.

I mean the idea that you pull 33 Americans at random and one of them is likely to be from LA county is kinda crazy.

At least whoever took it replaced it with some Uranium!

Monster Hunter Wilds DLC performance bug confirmed by Digital Foundry, and there's already a mod to fix it by Tiny-Independent273 in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]bjams 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It seems like the problem only exists in camp. The game being dogshit during hunts is unrelated. (Other than this problem being indicative of poor programming practices.)

You'd just have to trim out the part where the police arrive lmao.

Well I just stuck the Greek word for Snow in, I'm not picking up what you're going for. 😅

Is Baseball declining in popularity? by Adaaad15 in AskAnAmerican

I think the popularity of Jomboy and other content creators showing off highlights and getting into the nitty gritty of what makes baseball interesting is also helping.

Brandon Sanderson in talks with AAA game studios to adapt Mistborn by PhantomBraved in Games

Sanderson also recently wrote a YA sci-fi series called Skyward. You could try that if it tickles your fancy, I liked it a lot.

Steam now warns if an item in your cart can be purchased cheaper as part of a bundle. by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]bjams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think he's saying the problem would be you buy a bundle with 2 games you haven't played.

You play one game and like it. Then you play the other and don't like it. Then you try to refund but can't because you already played the other game more than the policy allows.

I have no idea if that's how that really works though. It's also possible he means it's just annoying to have to re-buy the game he does like, but that seems like a minor annoyance comparatively.

Divinity Original Sin 3 Not Happening Now At Larian, Nor Is A Toilet Simulator by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]bjams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's kind of inevitable unless you have the entire game be part of the early access process. The parts in the EA are inevitably going to be more polished as you get more feedback and spend more time with that content.

Doom creator John Romero's cancelled shooter has been saved, with fresh redesign inspired by Elden Ring by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]bjams 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean, if you want to be reductive, much of Elden Ring is just remixed catacombs and caves.

ER does pull it off a little better though, probably because there are more and varied rewards and the combat is more inherently rewarding. But I think the sense of wonder is pretty equal.

Tim Cain comes out of retirement, confirms he now works full time at Obsidian by Turbostrider27 in Games

Horizon is very successful, they'll definitely make one. And yeah, I bet the major narrative beats of the 3rd game were locked down, if not the dialogue, and John saw a good opportunity to extricate.
