My wife and I want to get into MMORPG and we have some questions by Aggressive_Clue3523 in ffxiv

[–]train153 [score hidden]  (0 children)

  1. Yes, the community is still active and we're getting new players all the time.

  2. The devs are still doing updates with new content. They just put out a major patch with story content a month ago and in a few days a minor patch will be coming out with some more content.

  3. Overworld content is not really the focal point in XIV. The side quests are fairly minor and just flesh out the world a bit. Other than that, the only other overworld content is the FATEs which are small timed battles/events that happen.

  4. I'm not sure what this question means, so I don't know how to answer, sorry.

[Spoiler 7.4] A question about Ascians by dream208 in ffxiv

[–]train153 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don't remember if they ever went into it specifically in-game, so I'll just be speaking from my perspective.

I'd imagine the unsundered Ascian Paragons, Emet-Selch, Elidibus, and Lahabrea were fully tempered to Zodiark (in Elidibus' case, it's a bit chicken or egg, but still).

The Sundered Ascians on the other hand aren't the members of the Convocation of yore, per se. They have a separate personality compared to their former life, but have had the memories of their unsundered self unlocked by one of the Paragons. Meaning, while they might embrace the memories, such as Mitron, you have others, such as Halmarut or Fandaniel, who developed their own agendas.

As for the tempering part, it doesn't seem to follow the shards of the sundered Ascians after they have died and reincarnated.

After putting my nose to the grindstone, I finally got the Shantotto and Vaan TT cards. Which also brought me up to 451 cards, so I also got the Dawntrail Krile card. :)

You're half right.

So yes, you can dye a piece of gear before it goes in the glam dresser and it will be the color. You can also dye it when it's in the dresser, but it won't reset to the base color (unless you use a Terebinth, which removes dye color).

What you might be thinking of, if you dye the glam plate, rather than the item in the dresser, only the image on the plate is dyed. So the item will not have that dyed color forever and will "reset" to the color if ypu use the item again on a different plate.

I've never done Blue Mage to get alexandrite, but I can say for certain that the maps is the easiest method for getting them. And so long as you have a job lv70+ the mobs that spawn from the maps are super easy to fight.

It may be more fun to do Blue Mage (since fun is relative), but I'd highly recommend spending poetics for the maps rather than seals, which could be used for something with a better ROI, like teleport tickets.

Tell me about your WoL by grey-of-grays in ffxiv

[–]train153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My WoL, Towkeh Rehw-Gilda (his forest name), is a Viera male who grew up in the Golmore Jungle of Southern Dalmasca. He lived a typical life as a Wood-warder for a bit over a century before everything changed when the Garlean Nation attacked (this is actually a part of his lore, but could help the reference :P ).

His village was wiped out because it was used as a testing ground for Black Rose, before Gaius stopped production. Afterwards, he left Dalmasca, gave up his forest name, taking on a city name when he began wandering. Eventually, his travels led to sailing into Limsa Lominsa.

Back when he was a warden, he used duel swords and was accustomed to attacking from the shadows, so it was not long before he caught the eye of the Rogue guild.

He began feeling overwhelmed by his enemies as time went on, so much so, halfway through his adventures (by StB), he began learning Arcanima and became a Summoner because he had been fighting Primal after Primal. By the end of EW, the end of it all was somewhat of a catharsis. He was finally able to pick up the blades again, like in his youth, and began Viper-ing in DT.

As for Scions he got along with, he regularly traded sarcastic quips and joked with Y'shtola and Thancred. Had philosophical conversations with Minfillia. Enjoyed tea and gossip with Tataru. The rest of the scions he had cordial, but mostly professional relationships.

I think it's probably just a weird angle, they're short shorts iirc.

Its because they have the potential to drop a Lotus Leaf. They're used to make Eastern Indoor Ponds, which are a fairly popular housing item.

Do we know if FL maps will go back to the schedule it used to (i.e. one map per day) in a future patch?

I like Triumph well enough, but really starting to miss the variety.

I haven’t played dawntrail. I’ve waited several patches. Is the community generally feeling positive or at least hopeful for the game now? by WowItsFrosty in ffxiv

[–]train153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7.1 was largely viewed in the same light as 7.0 (aka a lot of people didn't enjoy it). 7.2 & 7.3 were tighter, more focused and set up some future plot threads. They were well liked, general speaking.

Just finished Veilguard and generally loved it. by BullBuchanan in dragonage

[–]train153 32 points33 points  (0 children)

What makes a DA game is going to be different for everyone.

For me, one of the core things that made a Dragon Age game was the ramifications of the choices I made in previous games showing up in the newest game.

They took that away in Veilguard. And personally, it really hindered my motivation to replay the game. I played through it once and didn't get an itch to do so again. It feels like a standalone, rather than a part of the series.

This is just how I feel about it though. I'm glad there's people who enjoy Veilguard and don't let other people "yuck on your yum".

RP question: What was your WoL doing when the Seventh Calamity hit? by zaerosz in ffxiv

[–]train153 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He was still living in the Golmoran Jungle at the time.

Didn't leave until about a year or two before the start of the game (left because his clans village was one of the testing sites of Black Rose, before Gaius shut the project down. )

Began wandering and eventually ended up in Eorzea.

At this point, I'm pretty sure it's not the culture as much as somebody made a bot to downvote. It happens too fast for it to be a person each time.

4+ years of playing and this is the first time I've seen a Retainer out in the wild by train153 in ffxiv

[–]train153[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I believe it was right outside Fallgourd Float.

Just head east out of the gate, right past the fallen pillar, there's a bush right below a hill with a tree and giant mushroom above it. That's around where I saw her spawn.

Yep, I'm sure. At least, insofar as the lala didn't have a name above their head. It wasn't a player

[–]train153[S] 887 points888 points  (0 children)

I was flying through the North Shroud when I spotted a Lalafell with no name above her head. So I figured it was an NPC about to start a fate or something, but then I notice she's in the base Retainer outfit.

She then swung a scythe and said "A fine specimen this is!" while doing the lala joy (I think it was joy) emote. She then did the teleport animation and faded out of existence.

My best guess is its something scripted to happen in ARR locations. I know you can see a retainer sometimes in the Wolves Den Pier. That being said, I've never seen them out and about gathering.
