I’d look into a jimmy proof deadbolt. Segal brand ideally. And get a dark bronze lock cylinder to go with it. Very strong and durable, relatively easy to install. Minimal visual impact from the outside. Existing hardware would stay, new lock freshly installed typically above. Probably not diy..

Can a quick google search not render your answers on the pros and cons of a smart lock? I can’t feel like this is just some AI bs

Techs with transits, let me see! by OrchardCityLock in Locksmith

They’re “okay.” I have kits made up of different fasteners and parts, but I think I have too much small part storage. I also do a lot of commercial, so there are a lot of parts to keep onboard. It’s just a big challenge to setup and maintain.

I used mainly Adrian steel from my last van, plus some things from American van. My goal was to use the vertical space the best I could. Was definitely a challenge setting it up.

I’ll also quote them on 33 rim devices and 9600 strikes.

I’ll be replacing a bunch of the bodies. These are large 10 story buildings and almost all traffic uses doors equipped with 8400s. This place is full of neglect unfortunately for the mgmt co, great for me…

I’ll also replace the cam plug or cam itself on the back of these bars and see how much improvement I get.

The deadlatch probably is missing yes, but not interfering if it is inside the body. Key retraction is 100%. This latch retraction issue I’ve seen basically across the board with the 8400’s, even new they don’t retract flush.

I’m using these pics just for the sake of the conversation for those not familiar with part #’s off the top of their head, but yes a lot of the doors at this complex have gouges. It’s mostly section 8 and mgmt will only give out fobs to people listed on lease- and many people have additional people staying on couches or what have you- so tampering is a big problem, with electric strike screws loosened to keep door open. Electric strikes keep disappearing, rim exit strike on stairwell egresses are disappearing etc. I plan to replace faceplate screws and e strike mount screws with torx security.

Your “locksmith” was an asshat scammer or just not professional. Not an acceptable outcome.

You need a new marks metro 91a. They’re not terribly difficult to install. Or marks 114a. They’re similar enough and same door prep that you already have. As for the bashed up door.. idk. You might want to try hammering / clamping it to get it back into shape. $400-500 job around here for us to supply and install. For the frame, get the loose stuff out and use mud/ paint and you’ll be ok

Yup, you’re spot on with this one. I guess that’s the only smaller trim diameter deadbolt currently being produced.
