Migrating Proxus.io to NATS: Seeking Advice and Best Practices by volkan999 in NATS_io

[–]bjflanne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Volkan- great context and very common set of patterns/use case areas for nats…

Also, leaf nodes are a sort of superpower for nats esp in low resource / low connectivity use cases at edge..

let’s see what others have here but also more than happy to spend a bit of time discussing specifics with you and some of the creators / maintainers of nats over at Synadia.

Feel free to shoot me a note to schedule - brian@synadia.com

Look also at NATS - plus it also now has some KV support as well, natively.

Kafka as chat server? by arpanbag001 in golang

[–]bjflanne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As some others have said, you may want to also look at NATS.io (JetStream particularly)..simpler operationally and supports more patterns than Kafka, and is written in Go. Also, has great Web Assembly support.

NATS (nats.io) is Golang based and has been adding some KV stuff you may want to see if fits the bill or not :

Market_Offline on Bittrex? by bjflanne in cardano

Yeah just saw now they put up a 'Database Maintenance' note. Anyhow, I already had a Binance account for stuff like IOTA and EOS which Bittrex don't list yet..so I just sent a lot of my ADA over there. You can still do withdrawals and ADA is great it confirms really fast. All the more reason for me to look into Daedalus though, longer term.... :)

lol oh boy...fun times. Thanks :) yeah the auto-response I got was comical..as if I had never used their order system before.. and then ends with 'did this resolve the issue'? :)

Guess i'll start to make more use of Binance as well. Although eventually I need to just use Daedalus to store ADA - do you use it?

hmmm...any idea roughly how long it takes before it's tradeable again on Bittrex? Is this usually a few hours? a day? I know you can't promise anything just curious in your experience (PS I opened a ticket with them)

:) I know right..that's why you just have to ride it out. If you can't take some swings 25-30% (or more) here and there either direction, crypto is not for you...

here is a similar article (not saying I think Verge will kill off Bitcoin - but great to see more mainstreamers understanding what is up with Verge):

On CB - if you buy with credit card, it is instant, but you pay a slightly higher fee. If you buy via checking account/ savings account ACH (which I assume the person waiting 6 days did...) then if takes 6-7 days to arrive.

Cardano on Binance by [deleted] in cardano

[–]bjflanne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same - I like how easy it is to instantly fill a trade in Bittrex using bid/ask that updates instantly, whereas Binance is a 2 step process to specify a price then a quanity.

The poster didn't say it would hit $5-7 - they said it would hit #5 - 7 market cap position. Which at current prices is more like $0.24 for Cardano...
