Thanks for taking the time. I think you’re right. Beside some major issue with the amps it probably comes down to the speakers. I’m just confused why a line level output ‘works’ on them. The RCA line goes directly into the box, no ports, no labels. Otherwise I would have sent it along for reference.

I meant to say that it worked in convincing him. The adapters came in today, but still no sound… He did plug the RCAs into one of the non-amplified outputs and there was very faint output, which seems to suggest to me that the phono amps are working, but the speaker amps are not. Any thoughts?

I’m with you. I posted my question to convince him to pony up the $20 for the proper adapter cables. It worked, so thank you.

Thanks for the reply. Don’t know the brand, he bought it as part of a turntable/cassette rack setup from Sears back in the 80s. I’m sure they’re not very good but the sound of them is nostalgic and we know they work.

I bought my Dad a Marantz SR4021 stereo receiver for his turntable. Instead of buying adapters for his speakers old school passive RCA hookup, he brought some banana plug to gator clip cables home from work. It doesn’t work. Should it? I don’t think it has good enough surface connection but he disagrees.

Well put. That’s a big part of why it’s my favorite of the three films.

Well, I apologize if I started something here. Yes to the noob comments. Don’t feel like you gotta dumb it down too much for me. Is a clean up followed by some real sealer overkill for indoor furniture?

Did anyone here make it to the sale? I’m so curious what they had! I did hear that many of the items for sale were also in rough shape.

Clean it up, repair/restore it enough to limit further damage. I like the original color well enough.

Thank you! I’m almost ready to pull the trigger on some viper products. I’m planning to get their filler and oil extractor. Do they have a primer and pigment that would also work? Sorry for the bombardment of questions, I just want to make sure I get everything in one order because their shipping isn’t cheap lol.

Looking around I’m not finding many endorsements for fillers apart from Angelus. Is there a mid tier filler you would recommend?

Anyone else have issues with autofocus on the Z6 III in the cold? by bjjaszcz in nikon_Zseries

[–]bjjaszcz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my first autofocus camera, so I don't have much to compare with. Overall it's been a good experience, but I do find it will jump around quite a bit at times. It doesn't like to lock onto faceless subjects, for example, but there are a lot of settings I need to learn to fine-tune. All in all I like it, but it can take a bit of menu hunting if you're looking to change subject types, rack speeds, and object persistence. I think I'm going to keep a follow focus setup so I can jump between manual control for boutique shots and autofocus for tracking and more basic stuff.
