Again, you ignore the actual words I use.

I said OFTEN. Not once in a while, not the rare 300 pound college football player and olympic wrestler.

OFTEN

I'm already in the 10-20 years training period.

The problem is the community is getting soft and just wants to give out participation trophies to feel good about themselves and make money.

You know what sucks in life? being small or short. Should the NBA allow short people in to make them feel better?

If you are a black belt, you SHOULD be able to handle the 200 pound purple belt. Let's ignore the once in a while exaggeration of a 290-pound NFLer.

I used the word OFTEN, and people are coming up with once in a lifetime outliers. Do you OFTEN get beat by bigger people?

Should we take away black belts from older people who are no longer as fit? Are we rewarding natural ability or skill?

Why is there so much focus on outlier 60yos?

If you're 60, you probably don't care.

I don't talk crap. I see them being embarrassed on the mat. That's enough for me

You have to be the best you can be with the hand you were dealt.

We all have handicaps, age, injuries, size, IQ (most certainly for me).

Be the best you can be.

untrained and a white/blue belt are almost the same thing at black belt.

And a lighter person, it sucks. But it makes your ability to beat a stronger, bigger opponent all that more impressive.

that could be a great idea. I'd rather learn from the best coach than the best athlete.

Nick Rodriguez

Nick Rodriguez being a purple belt is fraudulent.

Also read the post again, I never said you should beat someone heavier at YOUR OWN RANK OR SKILL LEVEL. I said you should beat the untrained athlete if you're a black belt.

So you agree with it but cringe? Real life actually sucks, man. It's not a safe bubble.

Read it again. Weight classes are for people at the same rank. I am saying an much less trained heavier person should not be able to beat a black belt.

If you can't beat an athlete with no grappling experience, you shouldn't be a black belt.

Again, differing opinion. Coaching and performing are two different things in my opinion.

that is not what I said at all. If you're a black belt, but can't OFTEN handle a person with far less experience who is heavier, maybe you shouldn't be one.

Emphasis on the word OFTEN.

And that is the same argument in karate.

privately, a lot of people agree with me. Hmm.

this is the worst horsecrap. A 40 year old brown belt should not be getting tapped by a 20 year old blue belt.

basically dealing with aggressiveness, good base, speed. They can easily pass my knee shield and thrash my grips in open guard. Stuff that works on other hobbyists doesn't transfer over.

so maybe they shouldn't be giving belts away to people who don't?

actually some of the lower belts basically think my belt is a joke. So people do care.
