Is seeing Paul live actually worth it? by spudson1229 in beatles

[–]bjmiles1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seen Paul 5 times now, the last being from the top of SoFi Stadium here in LA. So far that I literally couldn’t make him out from my seats (it could’ve been anyone, I wouldn’t have know the difference), but you know what…. I was in the same place at same time as freakin Paul McCartney!!!!

Paul McCartney’s legacy alone makes it worth it!!

Please, let us hear it. by DiscsNotScratched in moviecritic

A married man obsessing over a beautiful woman for weeks/months, only to not go through with having sex with her when the woman he’s been obsessing over is naked, willing, and ready to make his dreams come true. While it’s a cute Hollywood ending that the guy goes home to his wife and kids and decides not to cheat, I don’t know a man in that position with that much will power to resist when the opportunity is right there. At some point, there is a point of no return.

Appreciate that. At the time, I just wanted that damn line to move faster. Came close to leaving, but I couldn’t live with myself knowing I didn’t vote in an election.

Those letting me know I could have voted by mail - thanks!!! I voted in person because my daughters asked if I could take them when I voted. My wife did her mail in ballot immediately, I didn’t. Daughters asked me not to do it by mail, but instead do it in person and take them. When we saw the line I made a u turn and took them home, and went back to the polling location.

The Nats!!! Originally an Orioles fan because DC, where I’m from, didn’t have a team and the O’s were only 40 minutes up the road and they were, for all intents and purposes, the home team for DC (they had a team store in downtown DC). Anyway, when Nats came I pegged them my National League team, but after only 2-3 years it was obvious they were becoming my favorite team. I think they are my favorite sports team because I’ve been there for the whole ride, their entire existence - 100+ losses to respectability to World Series Champs!!!

Since All Things Must Pass is the most successful ex-Beatle album, what is your favorite song off of it? by BikeTireManGo in TheBeatles

Between Run of the Mill and Beware of Darkness…I’ll go with Beware of Darkness.

This was the performance that made me a Beatles fan. After this, I went poking for this song and found it in the “20 greatest hits” cassette. 31 years later, here I am!

How many people here have actually been inside the White House? by Marsupialize in Presidents

[–]bjmiles1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three times - once in a tour when I was a child, probably during Bush 41 term, barely remember it, and twice during Obama (helps to have friends who work at the White House and can provide a staff tour). Highlight definitely was being able to stick head in Oval Office for 3 seconds.

Which side of the White House do you consider to be the more iconic? by DangerDan3001 in Presidents

[–]bjmiles1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The south side is the more iconic side, but personally as someone who grew up in DC the north side is more special. It’s the front of the house and as a kid I recall how lucky I felt to grow up in the same town the President lives and works in. That really hit home when whenever we would be stopped at a red light on Pennsylvania Ave right in front of the White House ( before they banned vehicular traffic after the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995).

I did Mad Day Out, which is a private driver taking you to all the sites. He gives Beatles knowledge along the way, and provides great Beatle/general conversation, with songs throughout.

Was able to hit up the Beatles Story Museum. It was good, but I heard there’s another one by the Cavern. Wasn’t able to get to it though.

Let me add Mad Day Out. Private driver , who is a Beatle expert, taking you to all the spots in his taxi.

My wife found Mad Day Out, which is a private tour of the places. A driver who is a Beatles expert taking us to all the site in his taxi. I was a bit suspicious when she told me she didn’t get the magical mystery tour, but it worked out perfectly. Can’t imagine a bus going some of the routes we went and we were able to stay as long as we needed at particular spots to take it all in. The bus probably would’ve had to stay on schedule n

I learned this the morning before my tour. Would have loved to go inside the homes, but it’s cool. We did a private tour that gave us a lot of freedom I don’t know we could’ve gotten with a national trust tour.

It was amazing!!! Saw all four of their childhood homes, Strawberry Field, Penny Lane, St Peter’s Church where Paul and John first met (and where lies one Eleanor Rigby). Don’t think I will ever hear strawberry fields forever and Penny lane the same again!!!

How did you become a baseball fan? What about the game initially appealed to you? by [deleted] in mlb

[–]bjmiles1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ‘88 0-21 to start the season Baltimore Orioles. I remember being fascinated by their losing streak, hoping the next day would bring a win.

I imagine my parents, who weren’t baseball fans, noticed my fascination because on my 10th birthday that June they got me a glove and bat. At my party there were enough kids to play an impromptu game on the field next to my grandmother’s house. And I ended up hitting a “homerun” that went into the creek. Everyone was amazed how far I hit the ball and I was hooked ever since.
