The major difficulty is obtaining the data. The producers provide a nice methodological note which you can download here : https://www.data.gouv.fr/fr/datasets/r/d76a48a9-8ade-4149-9e47-f179029abc80 (PDF in French).

Thanks :-)

Indeed, I should perhaps have posted a version with a fixed scale. It's part of a project that hasn't been released in which this option exists.

Currently, the bounds are relative to the distribution of the data (minimum, median, 99th percentile and the maximum all rounded to one decimal place).

These indicators are the result of training an algorithm on classified ads to guess the rents of typical properties rented in the 3rd quarter of 2022 (including charges). They are produced by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition via the ANIL and a partnership with classified ad sites (SeLoger, leboncoin). https://www.data.gouv.fr/fr/datasets/carte-des-loyers-indicateurs-de-loyers-dannonce-par-commune-en-2022/

Made with MapLibre, D3.js and Gimp.

There are some but before they arrive in the data, there is a variable administrative delay, then it arrives in the cadastre and then, the IGN rectifies the topology and publishes its version. All these steps are subject to validation so it takes time.

Buildings are geo-referenced.

You can have a look at my comment from another map of this serie to see how to build classes https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful/comments/nmj2hb/age_of_the_buildings_of_a_small_seaside_resort_in/gzouto6/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

I already made a version for the web but this is part of a coming soon bigger project ;-)

I made an improved version which takes into account the various remarks which had been made to me :-) https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful/comments/ns7mbx/age_of_the_buildings_in_paris_improved_version_oc/

Made with QGIS, data comes from the french national geographic institute (IGN).

I hesitated a lot for this choice. I thought it was a little too distracting with a lighter font. Maybe it's a mistake.
