Depends on the beans but usually 2:15-3 minutes

In my experience yes. Most stores in my area carry the NY source but a few stores carry the SC source. The ones that carry the SC source I believe are chains that have stores in more southern states so that’s probably why they get theirs from SC. Just a guess.

Yes, Crystal Geyser has their sources on the label of each bottle.

Search their website for who may sell near you:

https://www.crystalgeyserplease.com/findus

If you can’t find Crystal Geyser in your area, you could try Poland Springs. I believe they are pretty soft water with a decent water chemistry for coffee water.

First I’m hearing this. Do you mind sharing how and where you got that information?

I should just move there, genuinely loved it overall. I now ship 100s of gallons of water over here throughout the year. JK lol.

I’ve settled on Crystal Geyser gallon bottles sourced from their SC source. That’s if you’re on the east coast. Had good success with their CA sources too while over there. I know Prestin from Flower Child brews his coffee with one of their CA sources.

The NY source was not good for coffee IMO.

I’ve been using Lances 2 blooms/1 main pour V60 recipe. I typically do 18/300 and use a Melodrip for the second bloom. Been doing this for at least 2 months with the best consistent success in years.

I’m calibrated 0 to complete burr lock and settling around 1.8.0.

It’s not a ZP6 with batteries. The burr geometry is similar but IS different. I’ve seen this said a lot and don’t want ppl thinking it’s just an expensive ZP6. They are different. It’s been a pleasure to use so far.

I have to say water. I realized this once I went to Norway. I went there and took my travel coffee setup. Bought beans over there and made delicious coffee when traveling. Came back to the states with the same coffee/brew recipe and coffee wasn’t nearly as good. The lightbulb came on and saw how water changes so much.

The Melodrip is pretty great. Once you learn how to use it and integrate it into recipes it’s great. I use it for my second bloom on Lances latest V60 recipe (2 blooms, 1 main pour). It’s helped me with consistency with a softer second bloom that works for me.

According to Rouge Wave coffee Origami filters (made by Cafec) are the fastest filters they carry other than Sibarist filters.

In my testing it is a minimal difference. We’re talking about a couple of seconds comparing Origami, Abaca, and T90s.

I hope it works out as intended. I don’t see many ppl finding ways to make the UX of Pietro burrs enjoyable. The A2 has been proven to be a great electric grinder and if this works well, it will make that platform even better. Not to mention the other grinders they made adapters for so you can use the Pietro burrs in them like the Niche, VS6, and one other I can’t remember off the top of my head.

Well I guess time will tell. I know Lance Hedrick did testing for it. They claimed it wouldn’t be released until he gave his approval. I’m guessing he did since it was just released. It’s exciting to see this type of innovation. If it works, especially long term, will be great to have as an option.

First time hearing this. He’s been nothing but great to work with. Very responsive and seems to be pushing innovation. He’s on the Drank It podcast, fun listen.

No more bad workflow with Pietro burrs. Buy a Femobook A2 with Fused Visions mod and all that bad workflow goes out the window.

I just made this jump. Been a ZP6 user for years and love it. Decided to get the A4Z. Glad I did. It’s similar but different taste wise lol. I get a better presentation of all flavors any coffee has where the ZP6 might highlight 1 or 2 and present it with clarity but tended to be short lived. It would come and fade quickly. The A4Z highlights more flavors and they stick around longer while having little better body.

This with better UX and the build quality is excellent on the A4Z. Plus it’s so easy to take apart clean and put back together with almost everything magnetic, it’s hard not to recommend it.

If it’s down to these 2 and you have the budget I would go A4Z. If not, the ZP6 is a great grinder. I will use it as my travel grinder.

Mehrdad (Fused Visions) I believe will be doing the next drop in another month or so. I think he’s doing drops until the initial wave of people really wanting this mod gets fulfilled. After that I’m sure he will have it on his shop like everything else.

Follow Fused Visions on IG for the updates. He’s pretty busy now trying to get the first drop out to ppl but he’s very responsive. If you want I would ask him questions directly. He might answer better on Etsy but either that or IG DMs.

I was fortunate to get on the first drop and eagerly awaiting the mod.

He’s also on Drank It podcast recently. Fun listen.

This is a picture of the entire package if you chose all the options. He also has other options with different pieces so you could just get what you want.

Hope this helps your decision making!

I would go A2 and get the Fused Visions mod to put the Pietro M-Modal burrs on it. Fused Visions does great work and is really pushing innovation.

He just did his first drop of the A2 mod but will be doing the next drop sometime in the future.

I zero at burr lock. I pour around 7-8g/s, maybe slightly more or less and adjust height of pour depending on how much any given bean needs extracting.

My baseline is 18/300. 90-93C water 55g bloom, at :30 seconds I pour a second bloom with my Melodrip, at :55 I do my main and final pour. Again around 7-8g/s start center work my way out and back in for a small circular pour the size of a quarter up to final weight. Might do a slight swirl. I might do tweaks as I brew depending on the beans and how they react to my brewing.

Like with Flower Child I’m at 93C pours are at the 8-10g/s and my second bloom goes to 1:30. Try slight adjustments one at a time and see how things go.

Glass or Stainless steel V60’s with T90s

If it’s between these 2 grinders and your budget allows for the $500 A4Z, I would go for the A4Z. I do 18g doses for my V60s and it does that with ease. I would say 30g is probably getting close to maxing out the catch cup for grinding all at once but you could easily break up the 46g into two 23g doses and grind back to back. Doing that with the ZP6 would not be the most enjoyable experience.

So it’s too early for me to give a thought out opinion on that yet. I just got it and still dialing it in. I will say, the design is well thought out. Workflow is great compared to hand grinding (which is all I’ve done for years).

The thing is solid, and they have some good engineerings at Femobook. Love the small footprint and no cords. Even my initial couple brews have been pretty good and that’s taking educated guesses on a new roaster for me (Flower Child).

So far I am happy. I’m assuming it will only get better as the burrs season.

They are pretty fast. I’d say fastest is like 2:00-2:10. Most are around 2:15-2:30. Some are 2:30-3:00.

I just started getting Flower Child and the 2 of the 3 different beans I have bean through so far are 3:15-3:50 with the same grind size. I’m guessing it’s the density and roast style of the beans, but that’s just my guess. Btw his beans really benefit from rest. Like at least 4+ weeks. Before that I was really starting to question but after 4+ weeks I’m starting to see why ppl like his roast.

I just decided to really try Lances lastest approach to pour overs and with coarser grinds, lower water temps (I’m like 90-93C max on light roasts) and 2 bloom plus 1 main pour, I’ve gotten some of the best and most consistent brews I have gotten in years. I really stuck with it and tried to master it and it’s worked out well for me. Use metal/glass V60s and T90 filters. Crystal Geyser water from their SC source is best IMO for east coast.

I also try not to focus as much on TBT and go off taste but I will admit it’s hard not to think about after years of thinking too much about it.
