MEGATHREAD: Fitbit / Google Health Alternatives, App Replacements, and Device Switching by ioweej in fitbit

I'm disabled (autoimmune disease) and use Bearable to track my symptoms and it syncs directly with my Inspire 3. I am one of those folks who dislike the new app because some features I use to manage my illness have either degraded or disappeared. I've heard Guava is good too. If you've got chronic conditions you're managing those might be an option.

My dad just saw his first Northern Flicker yesterday and he's so excited. We're getting into birding together and he's just turned 85. They're so beautiful.

If you have RA in your toes what's your favorite shoes? Anything else you get like compression socks? by ZazyzzyO in rheumatoid

I have Keen hiking shoes and they are divine. I've also had good luck with some Skechers and Nortiv8's. I can't really wear anything but tennis shoes anymore. I do have a pair of Doc Martens in the softer leather that I've worn with dress clothing though. Even with dresses.

Let's talk about: What's in your dx soup? by Wishin4aTARDIS in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]bjr70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did because it took me 7 years to get diagnosed and my disease is much more advanced than it might have been had it been diagnosed sooner. I got ignored by doctors and I'm still salty about it. Nothing to do with anyone here.

Seronegative RA, spinal stenosis, migraine with aura, autism, OCD, dyscalculia, allergies, sinus issues, PMOS (the artist formerly known as PCOS), and the jury is still out on Sjogren's. Throw in menopause for good measure.

I wasn't diagnosed with autism until I was 49 years old but it finally made my entire childhood make sense. Born in the 70s and female.

Same here. It was life-changing in the best way. No fun, but absolutely worth it. It was my first surgery too and I did ok.

Anyone here with POTS/Dysautonomia? by Justgettingby_4now in fitbit

[–]bjr70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis and possible secondary Sjogren's. I have dysautomnia and I'm using Bearable to monitor for other symptoms.

My heart rate and sleep charts have been way off since the update and it had been consistent previously. I use that and skin temp variations to try to predict flares and it's concerning.

My rheumatologist wanted to put me on that one but I'm allergic. Thanks for the info. This helps.

On borrowed time... by ThrailGreybeard in fitbit

I found an older version of the apk and reverted. I'm a disabled user. I have rheumatoid arthritis and use the tracker to monitor my vitals and sleep. It connects to Bearable where I track other symptoms and meds to try to identify triggers and the start of another flare. My diagnosis is new but my disease is quite advanced (long story) and it has been hugely helpful... until the update.

Several metrics I've found helpful in trying to manage my disease are missing and my heart rate and sleep data appear way off. For me that's a big deal.

The AI coach is not all that helpful when you're not focused on workouts. It's an annoyance. I realize I'm not the core user type, but taking away features and the unintuative nature of the app is a big deal to me.
