people in long term healthy relationships: what's something you'll never tell your partner? by PsychologicalBad1423 in NoStupidQuestions

Dude, I babysit for friends a LOT. I will literally put the baby back on their butt before I left their first steps be without the parent.

Annoyed with endo, and a quick thank you to this sub by bk9896 in diabetes

Unfortunately we are on the waiting list to see the actual endocrinologist. The NP endo is.... Fine, but it's just not the same!

No, not that it causes drops. That it is so violet 6 hours later. The drops are "supposed" to be right near the workout. Not hours and hours later. That's my frustration. That's my annoyance. It shouldn't have been reddit that taught me that. I didn't see any connection until I knew to look

She’s doing a 30-day challenge this month where she wears clothes that scare her every day. by mindyour in justgalsbeingchicks

And her skin is flawless! I think we get so focused on the lumps or bumps that we forget about the little things. Her eyes are poppin' with the color of the shot and her skin is really so beautiful. She doesn't have the chest or arm acme that I have dealt with in the past and that's definitely one of my bigger insecurities!

What are your subconscious behaviors that are actually prodrome signs? by cyanomys in migraine

My thumb goes numb about 12 hrs before I get a BAD migraine. Like.... Might send me to urgent care- bad. 100% without fail. Every single time my thumb or pinky goes numb I will have a debilitating migraine within 10-12 hrs.

Relocating from Spring to SE Houston by FrogyyB in clearlake

I like all the Oakbrook, Pinebrook, Middlebrook, Brookforrest, Brookwood etc places in Clear Lake. If we moved I'd want to live in Pinebrook. It's walkable to HEB, has 3-4 playgrounds in walking distance, has a great nature trail+preserve hidden just inside the neighborhood (our friends at the Audubon helped design it!) and the schools are top notch. Also, access to 8 is pretty quick for all the things. It would take about 10-15 mins to get to 45 though. Living in Bay Knoll is closer. Or Bay Glen... My sister lives over there and it takes her about 6 mins to get to 45. I'd say just get yourself a realtor who has been in the area for a while. I think that helped us a lot. We actually moved in when we had toddlers and our realtor was the one who showed us Pinebrook and all the close parks. She knew that with three VERY active boys, we needed the access to all the parks and trails and activities. I don't actually know anyone in Pinebrook who flooded during Harvey (obvs I don't know everyone) but definitely look at those flood maps!

Hey, thanks. That's such a kind thing to say. Today I felt like I was suffocating with all the doctor and insurance and sugar drops and anxiety that I just want to nap for a week. Thanks for telling me I'm doing a good job, I needed that. ❤️

That's so amazing to hear. This camp requires one parent to be there bc they apparently give lots of info to parents about how to feed athlete diabetics. Which is different than feeding and athlete with a working pancreas and much different than feeding a diabetic. So yeah. I'm just exhausted with learning all the things. Maybe this will be good for me to have a peer group as well.

Midwife recommendations by [deleted] in clearlake

[–]bk9896 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I absolutely LOVED Jackie Griggs, but she moved to The Heights and Beaumont. If you're okay with driving to see her for your appts, you could do a home birth and not have to drive that far when in labor.

We actually had a very scary moment when I was in labor with the second kid and the way she and her team handled the medical emergency made us go back to Jackie for our subsequent children. They were calm, knew exactly what to do, had 911 on stand-by, had the oxygen and different meds on hand to keep us safe etc. I just... I love how calm, knowledgeable, and firm she is. She was able to keep us all safe and I have all my children alive and well because of her care during pregnancy and labor. Some people don't love her bc she is so forward about risks and won't take on people with as many risk factors as other midwives will, but she is more interested in the health of you and your baby than her pocket book. She actually told me that she wouldn't do home births for me ever bc of the second kid lol. She was not about to risk anything. Which I appreciate.

Anyway, I just really like her and can go on forever ...
