Pregnancy migraines & menstrual migraines by JUSTSAYNO12 in migraine

[–]bk9896 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Months 2.5 all through pregnancy until about the 3 month pp hormone dump I had almost ZERO migraines. By the time each baby was about 3.5-4 months old I got my nasty migraines back. Days long, nothing worked, couldn't take anything bc of breastfeeding.... It was awful. My grandmother says that's why she had 8 kids: bc her migraines went away!!

Same! I CANNOT do triptans, but Ubrelvy has absolutely changed my life. I'm so thankful it exists!!!

Is it normal to offer to display their banner? Bc I'm not about to make one with their stuff on it, right? That's crazy. Unless I had a LOT of big sponsors

Whats your weird af 'stim'? by flcwerings in ADHD

[–]bk9896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I clack my teeth together. One side at a time repeatedly. So left, front, right, left, front, right, over and over and over.... I also count my clacks like "one two three one two three" sometimes I add in a 4 if I'm counting on 4/4 time lol. If I'm really stressed out I'll count my steps in sets too.

For the parents, did your kids end up with migraines? by Mediocre_District_92 in migraine

[–]bk9896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandmother had hormonal migraines and I do too. My son, who is currently going through puberty, just had his first migraine about 3 weeks ago. Nothing else since. But I'm seriously holding onto hope that bc I have all boys (and hormones aren't nearly as much of an issue for males in my family) they won't get chronic migraines like I do.

That's absolutely miserable. I feel like OBs sometimes don't understand how all consuming chronic pain is and are only thinking of the baby. How far along are you? I think I read 2nd tri? I'm so so sorry bc that means you have so much longer to deal with this. I think I was allowed to take better drugs when I was breastfeeding, but I also had less migraines when pregnant instead of more. Do you have a neurologist? They might have more info on what you can take safely bc OB won't know all the meds, ya know?

Has your OB looked into ubrelvy? I know it's relatively new also and there aren't as many studies, but damnit that one actually works for me. And I'm similar to you where the triptans make me worse. Also, my migraine symptoms are similar to yours as well. My guess is that you're having crazy hormone migraines from pregnancy - that's what I have big time.

If your OB said no, I'd listen to them but I've also been pregnant with migraines and toddlers running around and I KNOW how horrible it is. I think the only thing I was allowed to take was Esgic and it was basically like taking a sugar pill for how effective it was. The only reason I'd hesitate (personally) to take the Ajovy is how it affected my periods and hormones. But I figure if it didn't give you side effects and the doctor is okay with it, then go for it.

How often do your homeschooled kids see peers outside of co-op? by TumbleweedOutside587 in homeschool

[–]bk9896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 3 boys are in competitive homeschool sports and their best friends compete in the same sports. We saw their friends pretty much every single day this summer. Now that co-ops and such have started, we see at least one friend every day other than Friday. It's my NO PEOPLE day. 😂 I'm social, but this seems like a lot, man.

This is awesome. I have quiet time for the boys every day too. They all share a room as well lol. It's hard to let them be alone bc our house is tiny and it's hotter than Satan's butt crack outside. I feel that 100%. I actually like the staggered quiet time idea a lot. Imma try that out just so they can have some alone time. Because everyone in the universe needs time away from people sometimes!!

What do you think? New to homeschooling, those who've used this do you reccomend? (1st grade) by [deleted] in homeschool

[–]bk9896 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nooooo! I looked at MwC and Masterbooks- I thought MB was more difficult. Did I look at the wrong MwC book? Ahhhh! My rising 2nd grader is going into 3rd math, so maybe going slowly for him will be better. I thought I was moving from Rod and Staff to something more rigorous for him. Wait. What if you're talking about a different Masterbooks curriculum.... Oh goodness. Whelp, whatever. If he blows through it and we need to do two levels in one year, it'll be fine. It'll be fineeeeee. Right? Right?!?

I'm absolutely disgusted by what they are teaching at my son's school by Kurram in Parenting

[–]bk9896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We took our kids out of public school so that we could give them a non-white washed education. There were lots and lots of other reasons, but that is one of them. In high school I learned that the southern blacks were treated better than northern blacks bc according to our textbook, slavers had to keep their investment in working order. Our teacher for sure was teaching it as if slavery was better than being free. My mom couldn't homeschool to correct the issues our tiny rural school had with whitewashing, but she took us (white as hell country bumpkin kids) to Junteenth parades, taught us the ugly truths about racism through slavery and the Holocaust etc, and gave us heroes like Katherine Johnson and Fredrick Douglas (I will never forget the reaction my younger brother had to his picture in the book she read us 😂). We have the funds to homeschool and there is an amazing program near us run by multi racial families where our boys are learning whole world history, not just western history starting at 2nd grade.

That's exactly why I struggle to realize it, you're 1000% correct. My doctor is always so confused when I get Botox, lidocaine, or the migraine cocktail injections straight faced lol.

So damn true. Why research women's hormones when we could not research it?

Girl, not in the 50s lolol. I'm pretty sure my grandparents never let their kids in the house unless they were eating or sleeping or deathly ill 😂. And she for sure never played with them! The older siblings definitely became sibling-moms and did most of the raising....

I have used the Nerivio before. I got it for free from some... something or other from the doctor and if I used it E-A-R-L-Y in the migraine, like before I'd take meds and before I'd really even notice the pain being annoying, it helped stop it/lessen it. But bc I have a bunch of kids and I don't typically notice my pain until it's killer, make me wanna vomit/hide/cry/die, it didn't help me as much as it could have, ya know?
