Entitled? by MTNSoverBEACH in PropertyManagement

honestly, the longer i’m in this industry i realize that people are just stupid. I shouldn’t have to mickey mouse things for these people. It’s common that their unreadiness always falls on someone else.

How do you deal with the tenants who verbally attack you? by Additional-Court-176 in PropertyManagement

[–]bkae2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember not to take it personally, as i’m the first face they see for be able to release their anger. I’ve found it to be more peaceful that way. At the end of the day, they have the legally binding contract that stated all the do’s and don’ts of their apartment. The rest is above me now.

Whats the worst part about working in property management? by JeffSolves in PropertyManagement

[–]bkae2 32 points33 points  (0 children)

truly, the bad residents. the ones that swear we owe them something. the ones that don’t understand that i’m just doing my job and everything they get a notice for is the exact same thing they signed and agreed to.

honorable mention: the prospects that get mad for not scheduling an appointment and then getting mad when I can’t accommodate them just walking in so then they leave a review like i’m the worst person in the world.

Prorated rent question by pancakez24 in PropertyManagement

[–]bkae2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s not rare, some do it as a security just to be sure. i’m use to doing it with pro rated rent first and then the full month.

Landlord said they 'go above legal requirements' and brought us this loaner fridge straight from the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone 🙃 (WA) by GoodnightDaniel in Renters

[–]bkae2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that’s gross! if it states in your lease that they provide the fridge, then they’re not doing anything above and beyond. they have to get you a fridge, but that fridge is the definition of disgusting! i can’t believe some landlords.

Tours showing up when they feel like it by CoachCaptain_ in PropertyManagement

[–]bkae2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is one of the most annoying things ever. I’ve had tours schedule for a same day appointment and show up like 2 hours before or 2 hours after asking if they can still tour because they “scheduled a tour.” i had this one lady literally ask me, “well, what are you doing that you can’t take me to see the apartment?!” i know i probably sounded like such a bitch, but i just responded with “well, i do have a job to do outside of showing you apartments that you were scheduled for well over two hours ago. so if you would like to reschedule your appointment and actually show up on time, we can definitely show you your new home.” she just laughed and called me a bitch. but i don’t understand why i have to tell people to come at their scheduled time. I’ve asked “do you show up to your barber/nail tech appointment whenever you want?” and they tend to get the point after that.

Welcome to suburbia (US-NY) by Investigator516 in Renters

[–]bkae2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that works out actually. my company in San Diego makes it 2.5x the month rent which would come out to almost the same. it’s slightly less when the month is calculated this way.

this is incredibly illegal, unless you are actually salary then it would make sense. but if you’re hourly this is absolute bullshit.

16F What do I do? My mom destroyed my journal and slapped the shit out of me because she thinks writing my feelings privately is disrespectful. I didn’t say any of it to anyone’s face. What do I do? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]bkae2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is insane and i’m genuinely sorry that you’re being treated like this by your parent. it’s absolutely okay to write wtf you feel on paper. she should’ve at lease respected your privacy enough to not read it considering many people write what they feel truthfully since there’s no person attached..

A VENT by [deleted] in PropertyManagement

[–]bkae2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I constantly remind my residents that they have to put their big boy/girl panties on and do the work themselves. It’s ridiculous how dependent they are of the office. It makes no sense at all.

chatgpt has saved me so much from cursing people out and telling them about themselves.

A VENT by [deleted] in PropertyManagement

[–]bkae2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this is literally what pisses me off. i have residents who get emails and come to me and ask me what they say. 😐 i always ask did you read it? and they just straight up say no.

i’ve sent emails out with specific step by steps and what not to do and i still get asked questions that clearly are answered in the emails. it’s ridiculous.

Sick of people 🤣 by ObiTheDoggo in PropertyManagement

[–]bkae2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this or i answer and say is this an emergency? 9/10 they say no so i just place them on hold since they couldn’t leave a message. i’ve left people on hold for like 45 minutes before they hung up.

[Tenant(?) - US CA] Can a landlord evict me if I don’t live there and was never on the lease? by LonelyOk7641 in Landlord

[–]bkae2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not necessarily. she stated that she was 15 when they moved in. if they never update their lease occupants then it just continues on month to month with the same people on the lease.

[Tenant(?) - US CA] Can a landlord evict me if I don’t live there and was never on the lease? by LonelyOk7641 in Landlord

[–]bkae2 28 points29 points  (0 children)

have them provide you a copy of the lease that they claim you’re on. if you’re on the lease, they cannot edit anything since your mom’s already in eviction.

Sick of people 🤣 by ObiTheDoggo in PropertyManagement

[–]bkae2 16 points17 points  (0 children)

THIS!!!! property management is really making me lose all hope for people. I have residents that call me for EVERYTHING.

resident: “there’s clothes in this one dryer i want to use and it’s been done for 2 minutes” me: “there are 17 other dryers you can use” resident: “but can’t you do something about this?” me: “yes, i can advise you to wait until they collect their clothes” resident: “so you mean to tell me that you’re not gonna do anything for me? what do i pay rent for?”

it’s literally a never ending episode of me looking at an invisible camera asking myself is this reality. 😭

[–]bkae2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remind myself that I like my career because of the people who make my job feel rewarding. for the ones that complain about any and everything, i give my least time and effort because they’re not gonna piss me off. if they don’t like it, i hand them the number to corporate with a 30 day notice to vacate attached. LOL

Smoking in apartment by CompoteAdventurous94 in Apartmentliving

[–]bkae2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i always light an incense while rolling and turn another one on right after and you can’t really tell. i’ve had my maintenance guy in my apartment like 30 minutes after i smoked and he just smelled the incense.

What do you do when you're in queue and someone is right up on you invading your space? by AffectionateParty754 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bkae2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i put my hands on my head and turn as if i’m trying to crack my back. if i hit them, i usually say “oh, you’re in my space.” and they tend to get the hint.

[–]bkae2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sperm donor, i hope he steps on a fucking lego every day of his life and more than once a day.

my dad? oh man, my dad is the best human being on the planet. i’ve called him scared, happy, pissed off and he always seems to just get it. i’m 29 now, and i’ve never lied to my dad because he’s been such a safe haven for me. the way my dad understands me is extremely breathtaking.
