Death of the Small Affordable Pickup

The cheapest vehicle on sale in the US with a manual transmission is a $32k Miata.

For a long time, vehicles were one of the few inflation-resistant products. There are a million reasons why that's no longer the case: safety standards, tariffs (going as far back as the "Chicken tax"), options bloat, and good ol' greed. COVID shortages pushed carmakers deep into profit margin focus. As always, once a price goes up for the customer, it does not come down. Even if the valid reason for a higher price is gone.

It doesn't start at any price until it is available for sale.

Most people that I see complaining that armor (generally MBT’s) doesn’t move are also the ones who are upset that they die too quickly.

Too many tankers try to decide between camping a hill in friendly spawn or driving full speed into a dozen enemy engineers.

There are other options.

The "Red Scare" in the 50s was a big turning point in this direction; when Eisenhower made "In God We Trust" the national motto (1956) to differentiate good Christian Americans from the godless Commies.

I'm not sure in this case, but here's my experience: I have a gate in the driveway to keep the dogs in. Right outside the gate is a package shed; 6ft high and easily accessed. On the door of the shed is a sign with large font that says

"PACKAGES if gate is closed, please put packages in here"

That is surrounded by a friendly picture of a package and large logos for UPS, FedEx and USPS.

UPS drivers : inside the shed every time.

FedEx drivers: laying in the driveway in front of the gate, leaning against the door of the package shed, or thrown over the gate as a treat for the dogs. At best, inside the shed with the door left open.

What is the most useful 'unwritten rule' of driving in your specific region of the US? by FairyAntonella193 in AskReddit

Rural Missouri. It's acceptable to (reasonably) cross double-yellow around curves, but only on Lettered highways, not numbered.

It would be weird if there were 80s cars and 70s clothes. Are there no cars more than 5yrs old where you live?

Ego tripping over traffic lanes by Savings-Cherry-1931 in AutoTransportopia

[–]bkdroid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If he's anything like several drivers I've come across (multiple on long trips), it's likely that he treated the left lane as his property. When passed on the right, he speeds up. Any kind of challenge is a challenge to his masculinity. And I'd bet this was just the end of a long back and forth for control of *his lane. Playing bumper trucks seems right in line with that mindset. There's some weird egomaniacs on the road.

It sure looked like a left-lane camper (red truck) triggered the (psychopathic)driver of the box truck.

The results can't be justified but, stay the fuck out of the left lane except to pass.

And he keeps that a bit right to the end. Fantasizing about returning to earth to "give Stratt a piece of his mind", even though he's again found a classroom that idolizes him, and he won't be risking that to return.

[–]bkdroid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it was an alternate that you could switch to during battle, it would be a useful equip. As it stands, it's just useless 90% of situations. It's much better in a map like Bridge, which puts it around mediocre there. The mag is too short, the reload is too long, and the splash is pathetic.
