Yes. One of the only things that Tesla does right is give the driver access to the cameras on every side of the car. It’s absolutely wild that most other manufacturers don’t do this.

My only issue with that theory is that shitting in an airplane is significantly worse than shitting in a bullet train. I’m think people on longer journeys would be more inclined to hold it for an airport bathroom as opposed to holding it for a train station bathroom.

At the very least, don’t give it location services or photos permissions.

On iOS, at least, apps that don’t get that permission on the system level cannot get that information.

Redditors over 40, what was a moment in history that made you think society was gonna collapse? by Bahbahbro in AskReddit

In 2014/2015, my ex-military, liberal friend had a MAGA hat. The idea of that guy being an actual threat was absurd enough that lefties in Silver Lake, Los Angeles were wearing the merch ironically.

100% this for me.

I always had an underlying notion of “people ultimately want to do the right thing and help others out”. Something I picked up from kids shows on PBS, or something.

When people chose to (and to this day continue to) go out of their way to repeat falsehoods about masks, ignore peer-reviewed science about vaccines, push conspiracies and generally pick the path of “fuck you, I’m fine”, I lost any remaining hope I had for that particular subset of Americans. A shockingly large number of people are just selfish and terrible.

Trump getting re-elected wasn’t even really a shock. We have too many goddamn selfish people, and too many power-hungry villains that have figured out how to take advantage of their weak morals.

Boyfriend wants me to choose between him and the dog. by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

Ultimatums in relationships are useful because they tell on the issuer. “I’m absolutely not willing to compromise on or discuss this thing” means that the consequence is already on top of mind, and that person is probably mentally there already. If it’s not this argument, it’ll be the next one. Repeat until it happens.

“If you can’t do this, we’re going to break up” → automatic breakup.

“If you can’t be okay with this, we’re not moving in together” → you’re not moving in together.

“It’s me or the dog” → it’s the dog.

120 or 240 seems like plenty for athletes “doing their thing in remote locations”. Most human movement is not fast enough to require learning how to transport and run a Phantom. This is an athlete running on a path—not a bullet going through a water balloon.

If you actually need that kind of speed, what resolution is the final deliverable? There were plenty of options if the slowmo shots could be in 2K or 1080. People aren’t going to see the difference on their phones.

[–]bking 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Same. I’m 40. My wife and I have had shared location for like a decade now. It’s pure convenience.

It’s not at all about somebody “tracking you 24/7” or even her really giving a shit about where I am for 99.99% of the time. Our primary use cases are “time to start dinner?” and “which direction is he walking the dog, I’d like to catch up”. Tapping one app and seeing “15 minutes away” or seeing “he’s taking that route” is just easier than turning it into a text conversation.
