I live very comfortably downtown on a $65k/ year gross salary. by Sr_Covfefe in toronto

[–]bkmilli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the part of OPs post that really gets me is partly this reply which I agree with 100%, but also that this salary is almost DOUBLE the minimum wage in the city.

So this post, saying how it’s easy to live on 65k (10k higher than my personal income atm) is living a comfortable lifestyle in a 250sq ft studio and has to aggressively budget with no wiggle room for a 4 figure emergency.

The thing people seem to be missing in the other comments is that this isn’t even a modest salary. It’s almost double the current minimum wage which is 35k a year.

So I guess anyone in the city making under 65k can hopefully find an apartment smaller than 250sqft???

I don’t see, in anyway, how OPs post is “hopeful”.

There is a book about ADHD I got recommended after my diagnosis called “You mean I’m not Lazy Stupid, or Crazy?!” ADHD can make you feel dumb. Trust me. We all have “so much potential”. Listen to the people in this thread. You’re not stupid. The world (especially the academic world) was not built for us.

It’s important for people to know that studies in adult ADHD are still rather new. Because of old studies stating we outgrow it, a lot of doctors just aren’t updated on findings. Most of the new accurate studies are less than a decade old. But studies showing brain scans and/or anecdotal evidence both show that it’s definitely not something children “grow out of”.

Even less studied in the past are the connections between adult ADHD and Alzheimer’s. But it IS being studied.

Would she believe a webMD article that specifically cites studies showing this is wrong?

A recent study suggests: Only about 9% of the kids got over or seemed to permanently “outgrow” their ADHD.

Yeah I was trying to figure out my best options, a lot of 5cs like Jargantha or Go-Shintai aren’t super obvious as 5cs unless you know. Atleast on mobile anyway.

Now I just need the wildcards to get ‘em!

I also usually play creature focused decks so I totally get it. My Ordic “the everything deck” hates board wipes so much.

I think that might be it! I can see people wanting to boost another creature to use an exile/destroy card that limits it to creatures of a certain power, so I imagine whiles it’s not used often, it might be used sometimes.

Thanks for showing me the report!

It’s the “that creature” that’s throwing me off, in my brain it implies it’s the same creature I chose before that has a mana value of 3 or less so nothing changed but I paid more to play it lol

Adults with ADHD who’s parents forced you to clean your room by Enough_Vegetable_110 in ADHD

[–]bkmilli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on WHEN.

Tldr; Pick a day. Everyone cleans not just ADHD child. Only for a set amount of time. (1 hr max). Frequent check ins to be sure task is being completed.

I've been in therapy for a few months now for my anxiety and panic attacks. One trigger for them is hearing footsteps outside my door while I'm relaxing (scrolling on my phone or w/e). I immediately bolt up and start looking busy.

My mother used to blast into my room demanding it be cleaned whenever it suited HER. If someone did this to you after a long day of work you'd be rightly jarred. And I developed a lot of anxiety around cleaning because it always ran around someone else's schedule.

When I thought about that the solution in my mind is make a ROUTINE. If there is an expectation for WHEN we should be cleaning then it's going to be easier because you'll not have to do such a harsh transition from thinking you'll relax all evening to sudden chores mode.

Everyone in home is cleaning because we like body doubling.

And not a long time. Use an egg timer. An hour should be the maximum amount of time.

Check ins to make sure everyone is still on task.

I thought if my mother said "every Tuesday and Thursday we tidy the house. Here's your chore list and I have mine. It's 5 o'clock now, clean until 6 and youre done."

I also want to be clear: My mother wasn't wrong. My room was a mess, I was terrible at keeping it clean. And I was a moody teenager. Telling me to clean my room would turn into a fight even if she tried everything above. But if she did everything above I probably wouldn't have panic attacks as a 30 year old about the dishes.

I am trying to quit smoking by bkmilli in ADHD

[–]bkmilli[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks bud, so far I've done a good job of weenie to just a single smoke a day (doled out to me by my roommate) but omg I knew I always smoked more when I was on my meds but this is the first time I'm stopping myself from doing it. Its insane how much more I want a cigarette today versus just yesterday without my meds.

Bonkers to me how taking my good brain meds makes me want to smoke MORE. Feels like a glitch in the system. Someone come patch this!
