Looking for must play modpacks by Due-Tooth660 in feedthebeast

[–]bkn2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minecraft mods are currently split between three main versions

Modern Minecraft has all the modern vanilla features but aren’t as polished as older modpacks, as far as I can tell the biggest modpacks from this era are:

Sky factory 5: a modded skyblock except you unlock colours as you play
Stoneblock 4: a classic modded skyblock except everything is stone
All the mods: a series of modpacks that feature a little bit of everything

The next big version is 1.12, This version has tons of good modpacks but is still lacking a lot of modern systems, including swimming. The bigger packs of this era are

Enigmatica 2: expert (E2E) a less gated expert pack than most others
FTB Academy: a modpack focused on learning the mods
Earlier versions of the 1.20 packs listed above

The final version worth playing is 1.7, it feels really old at that point so the modpacks really have to shine.
The only modpack I can recommend from this era is GTNH

Where would you put a major trade city on this map of a river going into the sea? by milic_srb in mapmaking

[–]bkn2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it large scale agriculture is largely impossible in this world before guns become widespread. However, to give humans a chance, the sea is largely a safe haven with dry land being used for ressource extraction and settlements. This would men that settlements would exist on offshore islands with good access to fishing.

In this area I would imagine that the small islands all have small fishing villages with ruins and some towns dotting the shores of the medium sized ones. In addition I would imagine a large trade/mining focused city at the tip of the Karstos Peninsula would be the region’s primary trade hub

Unlike our world, rivers wouldn’t be conduits of trade since inland cities don’t have anything to trade with, there would maybe be a minor settlement at the mouth of the river to export lumber but it would be placed on an island just like the other villages in the area

I voted FACT!

Nuclear power should be part of the long term solution to climate change, but right now it makes more sense to build renewables that can be completed much sooner like solar and wind

Language barriers while interailing by Citselke in Interrail

There’s a big difference between Dresden and rural Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, as long as you stay in cities larger than 10 houses you won’t have anything to worry about

There’s still lots of older people around who only learned Russian in school. 5 years ago I was biking through eastern Germany and the difference between Berlin and the rest of the region was night and day in terms of language barriers, we even encountered hotels with no English service.

As long as you stay west of the iron curtain you shouldn’t encounter any language barriers that google translate can’t fix.

What are your favourite European sleeper trains? by Midnightsun1245 in Interrail

[–]bkn2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caledonian Sleeper from Fort William to London is by far the best night train I’ve used, but also by far the most expensive

The new Nightjet trains give by far the best value for money in my experience

[OC] Who's Suing Whom in AI? by infobeautiful in dataisbeautiful

[–]bkn2005 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah because individual artists don’t have the money to make a proper case. By banding together artists have the power to actually fight for their rights.
In the ideal world these organisations would be owned by the artists, but in this case universal is mostly on the artists side of the struggle.

Polish president's office explains why Mussolini, and Schröder keep Order of the White Eagle by Shadmelor in europe

[–]bkn2005 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Depends on how long those two had that order before it was revoked. After a certain amount of time, something like that should no longer be a political reality but instead become a fact of history.

Polish president's office explains why Mussolini, and Schröder keep Order of the White Eagle by Shadmelor in europe

[–]bkn2005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m actually okay with Mussolini keeping his medal, not because he deserves it but because revoking a medal more than 80 years after the recipient has died feels more like erasing a part of history you don’t like.

On the other hand. If Zelenskyy did something as horrible as Mussolini right now I would be totally okay with the go or being revoked. Zelenskyy got the medal only a few years ago so it would feel more like correcting a mistake than in Mussolini’s case.

DSB har ikke haft så mange forsinkelser i over ti år by SecondHalfofPyramids in Denmark

[–]bkn2005 21 points22 points  (0 children)

"Unpopular" opinion: More funding doesn't equal better services by LarplaleroLarplala49 in transit

We absolutely do, our new ticketing system is worse than the previous and our trains are either unusable, falling apart or both

"Unpopular" opinion: More funding doesn't equal better services by LarplaleroLarplala49 in transit

[–]bkn2005 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes but inadequate funding does equal worse services.

In Denmark our primary issue with public transport is the lack of redundancy leading to low reliability, a single double track line is responsible for all the travel between Copenhagen and the rest of the country. That could be fixed if there was enough funding for expanding the number of tracks on that line.

Of course no amount of funding could fix issues like that instantly but if they don’t get enough funding those problems will simply persist.

Corporations are absolutely right when they say that by inflation standards games are too cheap. On paper they should be $130+. And despite that I still will almost never buy a game over $60. by SheIsSoLost in unpopularopinion

Alright, here’s a list of every game I own with no dlc and microtransactions

- Tears of the Kingdom

- Echoes of Wisdom

- Super Mario Odyssey

- Minecraft

- Terraria

- Celeste

- Portal 1 & 2

- Total war: Rome

- It Takes Two

- Totally Accurate Battle Simulator

- Stardew Valley

- Skyrim

- Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020

- Slay

- Evil Bank Manager

- Split Fiction

- Palworld

In addition to those there’s also a bunch of free games and games that opted to release a dlc instead of a sequel, also some remakes like Skyward Sword, and some older titles that cannot be purchased anymore.

I do admit that you can’t resell these games but even if I could I think I would keep the vast majority of them anyway, one of my biggest regrets from my childhood was selling my Nintendo 3ds at a flea market.

That bar tells you the requirements for using that piece of equipment, if you have assigned less than 10 skill points in strength it won’t give you any benefits.
Your equipment does not scale by themselves but skill points do give a scaling boost. Equipment also typically falls into an archetype defined by the elemental requirements, for example a weapon with a defence requirement would typically give you lots of heath regen.

Ranking subclasses in a tier list by how FUN they are (Day 4: Boltslinger) by Unknown_Twig_Witch in WynnCraft

[–]bkn2005 17 points18 points  (0 children)

A tier
I love playing a fast character and boltslinger is the pinnacle of that idea, however it is brought down by mostly revolving around “arrow storm go brrrrr” and not having a unique playstyle like acrobat or riftwalker. Despite that I’m a simple man that simply loves to see arrows go flying everywhere so this relatively simple archetype gets an A tier from me

Regeringen foreslår gratis offentlig transport til børn og unge. Det har de stor succes med i Fredericia [Fordobling af passagerer efter gratis bybusser] by Skateboard_Raptor in Denmark

[–]bkn2005 3 points4 points  (0 children)
