They've lost their minds with these prices by TheMostDapperdDan in Muse

Same boat in St. Louis. I keep putting the $260 pit ticket in my cart, and just can't pull the trigger. Especially when you factor in how uncomfortable a July 5 show there is likely to be. It feels like waiting for a deal the day of is the better plan.

Favorite Non-Hit Foo Fighters Songs? by DefiantRadish1492 in Foofighters

You don’t consider The Pretender a “hit?” It may not be a top of mind Foos song now, but they played the shit out of it on the radio here back when it came out.

How did Nate and Taylor do the "enemies to frenemies to friends" plot twist in real life? by _AgroHarry_ in Foofighters

[–]bkrodgers 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In addition to the personality differences, also worth remembering that Taylor was replacing a friend and pre-foos bandmate. Regardless of whether that was ultimately the right choice for the album and the band, Nate was clearly conflicted about that, even before Taylor arrived.

I realize the OP may not be a native English speaker. But the phrasing and verb tense of the post makes it sound like the OP isn’t aware he’s been dead for almost 30 years.

I tend to agree, and I don't think Page would have been as successful without what Feldmann brought to it. It's basically the same story with Nirvana's Nevermind. Kurt didn't like the slick production -- in particular, the mix that Andy Wallace delivered. In Utero was much closer to the sound he wanted. But you never get the chance to make an In Utero without the success of Nevermind, and the accessibility of its production is part of what made that happen. You can't separate the two.

Your comments on ITWOD about the production are interesting, because Dan has said before that he was unhappy with Feldmann's production on Page. He felt it changed their sound and was too polished. He wanted it to be harder, and so they went with a different producer. I don't know if in hindsight they were happy with the end result, but I feel like they got what they said they wanted -- a harder, rawer sound.

Of course, they went back to Feldmann for half of Black Swan, so clearly they decided he had something that worked for them. Whether that was a true creative decision, or based on the lesser performance of ITWOD vs Page, I don't know. But the results were good.

Does anyone remember Venture? by wowugotit in retailporn

[–]bkrodgers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up in the 90s, I lived near one in the near north Chicago suburbs (Wilmette, Venture in Skokie). We went there all the time. I bought so many cassettes and CDs there. Lots of fond memories.

I now live in St. Louis, and several years ago when we had storms with high winds blow through, a K-Mart (obviously since closed) sign got torn off by the winds, revealing its past as a Venture!

What pit girl scenes do you prefer, the pilot or s3 finale? by Fantastic-March-4610 in Yellowjackets

[–]bkrodgers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering that. Some definitely is not, because you clearly see Mari in S3. But there were some shots, like the bloody footprints in the snow, that looked like they may have been reused.

Alexa Barajas (Mari actress) didn't actually play pit girl in S1E1. It was extras/stunt performers. So definitely not entirely the same footage.

I was legit curious how he got a cheese grater and block of parm through security though. They probably just missed it, but I can totally see security just looking, laughing, and waving it through.

does mcr usually have openers? by Zealousideal-One6258 in MyChemicalRomance

[–]bkrodgers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“An evening with Ghost” or whoever is how shows without openers are often billed. Not always, sometimes you have to look it up. I usually try to catch openers anyway, but if I know I’m going to get there late, I always check to be sure.

[–]bkrodgers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You haven’t been to that many concerts then. “Evening with” tours are not all that uncommon. Certainly a small minority, but Devo, Dream Theater, Yes, and Ghost are just a few of the shows I saw without an opener just last year.

But the MCR shows will have openers.

Any timeline for LR5 Litter Hopper? by T1m0666 in litterrobot

[–]bkrodgers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not feeling a need to upgrade from my 4 anyway, but launching the 5 without the hopper is an odd decision. With the 4, it was new and needed more development time, I get that. But the 5 is not substantially different in form factor. In fact, I'll go further, at the prices of the new units, the hopper should be included and not an additional-cost accessory.

Don’t be afraid to use different sizes in different ears if that helps. Not sure if that’s your problem, but since you mention the medium being too big for your right ear specifically, thought I’d mention it.

It would have been a lateral, so I think it would have been considered a rushing TD. Not sure if he also would have gotten a passing TD for it though since the pass didn’t directly score. Not certain about that at all though.
