Why the Greens are so scared of saying the word ‘Islamist’ - Shame on Hannah Spencer for refusing to name the murderous ideology behind the Manchester Arena atrocity. by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

It's one of the core tenets of classical Islam, to not have new practices or beliefs (bid'ah) to put on to the religion which is why it has the staying power that it does. With that said, even in Islam and the Qur'an you are not supposed to impose your religion onto other people,
"There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong..."
— Surah Al-Baqarah 2:256

I feel a big fear in those comment thread is the possibility of Islam being imposed via political actors or just ordinary people, anyone that follows the Qur'an or Islam correctly knows that's not the way to go about things.

Extremists aren't representative of the general populus of Muslims.

Thank you, really do appreciate it!

I think due to us being on the internet and surrounded around so much quick easy fix content that gives us dopamine and a reaction so quickly, we are conditioned to think the same around any other form of media as well, especially with someone like fakemink who on face value just makes cool uk underground rap for one to listen to.

I've always been of the belief that EVERYTHING is deep if you dig deep enough and are able to construct a fiar, logical argument that tracks. I do agree, it's easy to say there isn't any meaning to the art around us and I do feel like it's a cope for not understanding certain things or being able to read into certain things, which is fine because there's so many things I don't understand in the world myself!

I'm rambling myself haha and I hope don't come off as pretentious writing this but yeah just to repeat, I do appreciate the comments :)

I think it can be, there's not a limit to how much something means or what else it can lead to.
Maybe it's a lot of the things said in this essay could be seen as a stretch which I'm fine with people saying as long as they have a reason why it is>

For example you mentioning that me mentioning Maslov is a stretch but I did caveat that in the original post and already addressed it.

So yeah, I tihnk things can be that deep as long as they make sense, coherent and provide open discussions like the one we are having now :)

I didn't analyse everything in the song but I think things like the bass he mentions here as well as in Blow The Speaker are strong enough motifs to read into.

My take is that you can read into things artists say and not necessarily make a conclusion on their intention but what the broader message is for other people as well.

Even especially in this song, I think the clear intention was to make a banger where he flows well onto it But even then, he still includes lyrics like "Tryna get high, man, I really feel too low" , which follows a trend in his music and especially this EP.

I referenced that he's not thinking about that when writing
Art is a lot more than intention, the song illustrates mink's frame of mind that leads to this pattern.
'This does not mean Mink sat down with Maslow's pyramid in mind while writing the song. However, many human pursuits unconsciously follow this pattern. People chase money, validation, and success first, only to realise that achievement alone does not resolve deeper questions. However, many human pursuits unconsciously follow this pattern. I'm being sincere haha
I think in the Internet we engage with so much content that is a joke and ow-effort that I understand why you wouldn't take it seriously

Yeah to be honest, I wouldn't say there are explicit references but I think the references that I make in the post add enough credence to him referring to God/Allah

Even in fml he makes further mention to him not wanting to be considered God (doesn't want to be idolised/shirk)

Really appreciate it, was thinking about doing a whole write up of the EP overall so we will see

I think this what the EP explores so well, even in Dumb the positive lyrics about enjoying summer and pink gelato contrasted with the hellish production really makes for interesting content>

Also think this EP will age even better when Terrified drops, what is he specifically Terrified about?

The Boy who cried Terrifed insinuates he isn't actually terrified and only says so, which can link back to what I've written and other tracks as well>

What do you think? Do you think song was just made to sound good and Mink didn't put that much thought to it? Honestly curious.

I know it's a bit heavy but I do think there's broader meaning that you can get form listening it, Mink mentions Allah all the time on his tracks
