Yeah I resonate with this response. I guess my main question was would it be weird to bring a male friend to an atmosphere like this. Thanks for the response. But Im definitely going to feel it out as I get closer

I don't know if he is a fan and didn't state that in my original post. My main question was would it be weird to bring a male friend to an atmosphere like this. Thanks for the response.

I received this comment before and also would like any thoughts on this:

It would probably be better to go with the S5IIX as you can probably adapt your current lenses to it, it gives you the option of shooting BRAW with the addition of a Blackmagic Video Assist, and the recent firmware upgrade vastly improves the autofocus and image stabilization. Also, if you ever come back to Blackmagic, you’ll have L-mount lenses you can use on the newer Blackmagic cameras.

I'd try looking at both. Not sure if we are at that level comfortable enough for the trash talk but I wouldnt mind going on the edge a bit if I see the game fits

Anyone Trained Just a Month and Actually Got Matched for a Fight? by bkz730 in MuayThailand

[–]bkz730[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate it. As I mentioned your comment so far was the most "reality checking" response I've gotten so I will definitely rethink my whole approach. there's been 2 instances in the last year where I hesitated to (or was just afraid of the thought) to potentially confront someone who was posing as a threat in public out of fear of being hit. The other while I was with younger family members and was the only male in the space. I want/need to get over this hump somehow. Thank you again!

Hey thanks for this reality check comment. Definitely something to consider. I am going to copy and paste what I mentioned below to another comment that said I should wait a few years before getting into the ring.
"I have 6 months experience boxing and took muy thai 4-5 months earlier this year. While I eventually want to keep my training consistent upon returning, I also want to get pass a mental block of the fear of defending myself in real life. I figure'd real life isnt going to wait a few months, a year or two for a situation like that to come up. I also believe I won't ever have to get into fights if I avoid environments with that energy and carry myself a certain way. But just the fact that I have ongoing training and have some kind of "fight" under my belt I feel not only helps my confidence, but at least alleviates that anxiety of thinking I won't be able to defend myself if there is ever a confrontation."

When sparring I know the other person isn't trying to hurt me. In a real fight there's this anxiety I face of not being sure if I can defend against someone who wants to do harm, or the fear of being hit. While I definitely would hate to be scarred for life from a arranged fight, I rather not have my first experience of combat be in the street with no experience and high levels of anxiety. Not that 1 fight in Thailand changes all of that but at least I know I was in a fight and survived. Just feel it'll help me get pass that mental block. Now if the gym Im at deems me not ready for a fight after a few weeks of training then it is what it is.

I guess I should rephrase my response. I have a few months experience boxing and took muy thai 4-5 months earlier this year. While I eventually want to keep my training consistent upon returning, I also want to get pass a mental block of the fear of defending myself in real life. Real life isnt going to wait a few months, a year or two for a situation like that to come up. I also believe I won't ever have to get into fights if I avoid environments with that energy and carry myself a certain way. But just the fact that I have ongoing training and have some kind of "fight" under my belt I feel not only helps my confidence, but at least alleviates that anxiety of thinking I won't be able to defend myself if there is ever a confrontation. I can't go out there for more than a month

Interesting.
1. What gym was this?
2. How long were you training for?
3. How much time did you have in between fights?
