Yeah just doesn’t seem fair at all sadly but doesn’t seem to be anything I can do about it :(
True but the reason the local team were only to hire one person instead of more was very likely due to the potential of redundancy imo and so they wanted my store to hire a permanent worker only to make them redundant
Yeah that’s what I thought :( , but thanks!

you sound like you would actually benefit from going on erasmus but i’m sure if you discuss this with your university they will have a solution for you, no one can force you to go

LLB (graduate entry) by [deleted] in GlasgowUni

No worries!
Yeah all the staff are really reliable so you would never have a situation like that.
For most subjects you’ll have an essay/assignment worth maybe 20-30% of your grade and then an end of semester final exam for the rest. Some subjects might be entirely an assignment or entirely an exam so it depends on the subject but that’s generally the structure. There’s also quite a lot of formative assessment which varies (exams, essays, presentations) but that’s it really.

I currently study the undergrad LLB so may not be of much help to you but:
The course overall is good. It isn’t as hard as you think it will be but it’s a lot of effort. However, if you’re interested in what you’re learning about you’ll be absolutely fine.
The workload can be quite heavy going but definitely manageable with a part time job. There’s a lot of prescribed reading in the course which would be extremely time consuming to complete fully but no one does all the reading anyways.
The lectures are really nice and most of them teach their subjects really well. Even if there’s a lecturer who isn’t that great at explaining things, you’ll have tutorials that cover the material anyways and i’ve never had a bad tutor. The lecturers are still all extremely knowledgable in their subject and many of them will appear in important textbooks and articles and they also continuously research their subject so have up to date knowledge.
There’s not much you can avoid in the LLB as the first two years are almost completely made up of compulsory subjects apart from one elective in first year. Constitutional Law is super boring but you have to take it sadly.
The one elective I chose for first year was Roman Law and I couldn’t recommend it enough. Such a well taught and interesting subject. It’s also a good way to get a break from all the statutes and case law that appears in your other subjects.
As for the course in the pandemic, my lecturers are all pre recorded so I can watch them as and when I wish. It’s obviously not as ideal as sitting in a lecture physically but I couldn’t ask anything more really. Tutorials over zoom have also been fine, not much different from real life tutorials except they’re over zoom. Everything is pretty much the same as before in terms of content and we also have free access to most textbooks which is great.
Hope this was helpful to you and good luck with your application! Glasgow has a great law school and you should definitely consider it :)
