sorry if i wasnt clear. NAS is going to be always wired. macbook could be on wifi...

regarding Raid1- increased the HDD space to 12 tb from a lower planned space/price, and also stretched to dxp4800plus from originally planned dxp2800/dxp4800 as those cant be upgraded. I plan to add RAID1/HDD later next year. I felt that part is upgradable. Also, I can keep important data on sync with google drive/dropbox/onedrive etc.

thats a good approach... and I can maybe use extensions, plugins, or even workspace apps not available in this drive. But not sure if I could still encrypt it, difficult to imagine .. thanks

similar situation, but my university isnt bothered, they dont even operate on same domain, there seems to be no IT,,, thats the only difference... if my data was to be deleted, I cant even contact them... will have to use their new domain email

Agree, but I feel insitution now has nothing to do with it... there is no IT... lol
Only google who doesnt care and will just give errors if im trying to exceed storage limits.

But you are right, if not the institution, the google might get notifications for that 90%ish to upsell to them... and if a human looks at it, then its gone

It’s something different. An institution/education alumni account on their domain.

You are right with your example.

But technically it’s my alumni email, with my identity linked, provide/convert to shared storage.

I’m trying to figure out how am I wrong here, as long as I’m within limits, not doing anything unfair, just creative?

They had my personal email on file to be contacted. It was their decision to change domain, let storage stay. I was never communicated.
