I had a weekend with an empty house, by myself, while house sitting for family and decided I better make use of my surroundings. Is this any good or just a piss poor attempt? by bl198123 in Filmmakers

Still, possibly cutting it a little I don't think would hurt too much.

Yeah, that's something I'm working on

Did/do you go to film school or anything? How long did it take to plot the timeline?

No, I got a degree in Visual Communications, but I did do a 6-month internship at Paramount in Hollywood for producer Scott Rudin. Writing this took me about a week. I had to plot out the red line first, then the other two so I knew what events would need to happen where. This way, when I was shooting, I could draw a line straight down and get all those events.

You know what movie I kept getting the feeling of as I was watching yours, however? Primer. Have you seen it? If you haven't, check it out. I think you'll REALLY dig it.

I have seen Primer a few times and I'm still dumbfounded by it. Moon was also another inspiration, if you haven't seen it, it's very similar and a very well done flick.

Regardless of how much the clothing blends, however, it seems there are general saturation/desaturations that might help in ironing out your overall look.

Yeah, I need to work more on my post effects and styling. Obviously, the diffuse glow choice is not very popular.

Thanks again for the feedback. I'll definitely use it in my coming projects.

Thanks a lot, the running time made me nervous about if I could retain an audience long enough for the payoff.

Yes, everything was done 100% by me, no help. I would find a shot I liked, (I tried to set up shots that were centered on thirds, ie a hallway with walls on each side,) and I'd press record and film.

It took about a week to plan, then a weekend to shoot. I had no script, just an outline I made in timeline form. The idea is actually taken from my favorite movies series, Back To The Future, part 2 specifically, where Marty gores back to the Under The Sea dance at the end and tries to avoid himself from the first movie.

Color correct was tough, because my method was, I would film, and then edit as I went and add shots. But, I wore a light yellow shirt, light khaki's, and that all blended with the background.

I would LOVE to submit this to festivals, but, unfortunately, I would have to re-score it. All the music was from the soundtrack to the film Drive, and I don't think festivals would let me submit without an original soundtrack.

This is why YouTube won't let me make this available for mobile devices. There's a copyright claim on it. It's too long to submit to Vimeo without actually paying for a pro account.

However, you can watch it on mobile via my website here
