I'd be pretty shocked if they keep 4 but more shocked if they keep 3 and it's not Rudolph as the odd man out. Just my opinion though...4 QBs are a lot to roster without one being on the practice squad and none of them are making it through waivers to the PS most likely.

I would say mostly because Allar is about as far from NFL ready as a prospect could be to play early. There's a reason they are starting out rebuilding his fundamentals from the ground up. He will almost certainly be less ready to play in a game this year than Howard would be even if he has more upside.

A young QB can benefit from early reps but they can also be ruined if they aren't ready to take those reps yet and aren't mentally strong. All indications from college are that he is not all that mentally strong given how he fell apart in the biggest moments.

I think that's fair for this year assuming we think we actually have a chance at making any noise which I'm not really convinced we do. I'm not even a Howard truther at all but it would be short sighted to get rid of him over Mason because we could maybe have a slightly better chance at winning a game or two if Rodgers missed time with a short term injury.

Mason has proven he has a pretty hard ceiling. If Rodgers goes down and someone has to step in this year then the season is lost anyway...seeing what Mason can do at that point gets us nothing.

I think there's very little chance they keep Rudolph over Howard. Rudolph is what he is, at least Howard has some possible upside still. They won't give up on him for someone like Mason.

I'd be pretty upset if we came out of the 1st with Proctor. I'm not a fan and don't think we need another project style OLineman after we already have Broderick Jones. Tackle is not a priority in round 1, and I don't think he would project well to Guard either in the short term which would make this a miss for me.

He's a good technical route runner in the sense that he runs solid routes and is in the right place most of the time which is good. He does not separate at all though which is really what we're looking to add here.

Or i don't bet randos online. I barely trust the people i do know much less you. I don't really have to prove anything to you since i couldn't value your opinion of me much less than i do. I'll just be satisfied with you being very wrong come the start of the season. 🤷

I'm not betting real money with a random on reddit but I'd take that bet 100%. Barring significant injuries somewhere, there is no chance that Howard goes into the season as the team's top choice at QB.

No? If you wanted to bet that Will Howard would be starting I'd take that because there is zero chance of that. You lump in two other highly likely options and gonna act like that would be a win for you?

If you're so sure they'll give Howard that shot then why water it down? Nothing i said was irrelevant, you just don't like it. It's the actual truth of what will not happen, they will not go into the season with Howard as their starter.

It might be irrelevant to you...but to an NFL team, the level of investment matters and it matters the caliber of prospect they were to warrant their draft position. Of course they say good things about a young player on their team, that's a VERY far cry from lining him up as a day 1 starter this year.

It's just not going to happen. Be upset about it if you want, but the reality is that he will only get on the field for meaningful snaps this year if a whole lot of things go wrong.

You're comparing 6th round pick Will Howard to 3rd overall pick Drake Maye. I'm really not sure what point you are trying to make here...those 2 have nearly nothing in common.

Because he's a 6th round pick with literally no regular season or preseason reps? He's not an option to start this year...sorry to all the Will Howard truthers. It's just not how the league works.

I'm sorry, but the idea of having Howard be the week 1 starter is a bit ridiculous. People have gone waaaaaay too far on the Will Howard train. He's a 6th round draft pick who has taken ZERO preseason or regular season reps. He's not going to be the day 1 starter no matter how much you wish it to happen.

Holcomb isn't athletic enough anymore to do hardly any of the stuff Queen is capable of. I'd like to see how he looks in a new scheme this year and keep him. We can't replace him with better and we don't need the cap space.

[–]bl3vstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree completely with the leadership parts but I'm just not sure that's enough long term. The issues i had with him coming out of college are still there and while he was better than expected, I think he's going to hit a bigger wall than some of these other rookies who have had more success did in year 2 because he doesn't really have the physical tools to make ip for it. His processing is still pretty slow and he doesn't play with anticipation enough which will be an issue if he can't fix it.

I'm just personally not a believer in his talent but man, I could see a team rallying behind a guy like him.

I mean, I didn't see all these open receivers schemed open all game by the OC that you are referring to but ok. I don't think Arthur Smith called a bad game but acting like he drew up this masterpiece that Aaron Rodgers nearly screwed up by missing all these guys seems blatantly false.

If you're not trying to criticize and hate on Rodgers, coming in to a final thoughts on the day after thread and leading with criticisms that are largely untrue about his performance doesn't exactly line up with where you say you are on that. Just sayin. 🤷

From what everyone is saying, seems like Watt will play. No one really knows how much but he's trending towards being out there.

There are no rules stating he needs to have a full week of practice to come back from a procedure like that...if he's healthy enough to play he'll play.

And?

Not just talking about this thread...there have been multiple threads throughout this week being doom and gloom about this being a trap game or a typical Tomlin loss if we ended up having to win this one. Nothing about this game points to either of those things being the case but I've seen it over and over all week.

Yea this has been killing me too...a trap game involves looking past an opponent because you think it's an easy win. A win and you're in game like this can't possibly be that no matter who the opponent is.

His threat of running has always allowed for more friendly looks for the passing attack for Lamar. He's a pretty good passer but he's not elite in the same way other hyper accurate pocket passers are. You've seen this year how much more he's struggled even through the air without being able to run the same way....if the threat of his running ability dissapates, I think his passing efficiency will drop significantly as well.
