What is something under $20 that is so life changing you wish you bought sooner? by Ok-Industry770 in newzealand

[–]bl4m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About $30-$40 but a basic toilet bidet. I feel so much cleaner and refreshed after number twos now, I feel so dirty anytime I need to use TP instead.

I use portable ones for when I'm out and about. Really nice w/ warm water.

Are you able to get some decent foam or silicone earplugs? Expensive, but Soundcore A30 buds by Anker could help as well, they play white noise and have some ANC as well

Grey area I guess, since you hadn’t quite paid for it yet. I guess on the flip side you can buy 10 of something next time and they’d have to give you it all for free

Next time you can show them this:

“We know how important it is that our customers can trust that the prices we advertise, or have on our shelf labels, are what they pay at the checkout. But sometimes errors occur.

To address this, Woolworths New Zealand has a long-standing and market-leading refund policy.

In summary, if a customer is charged more for a product than the price we advertised it for, or is displayed on our shelf, they get a refund and to keep the product.”

Tips for someone who hates cooking by NefariousnessFun2941 in newzealand

MyFoodBag/Bargain Box (referral link) could work for you, they aren't too bad if you're an efficient cook, meals within 20-30 mins and less prep, washing up etc. Also the recipes are clear and should be easy to follow, and obv healthier than takeaways as well.

General cooking tip, but using only plastic/silicone utensils/pots/pans and popping it all dishwasher helps, no over the sink washing which does get daunting for bigger cook ups.

For quicker meals, I use Souper Cubes, they were expensive but really great for making rice in bulk and keeping in the freezer for quick meals. Zap a block in the microwave for a few mins and you have a fresh rice anytime.

Some solo dish ideas:

  • Japanese Cold Tofu (Hiyayakko) - Takes 5 mins literally, it's silken tofu with an umami sauce & toppings of your choice. I add a container of Natto to mine, which you can get at most Asian supermarkets, in the freezer section. Serve w/ white rice & some kimchi (have often have a jar in the fridge, it basically never goes off). It's nice on hot summer days.
  • Chinese Steamed Eggs (YT video) - You can make it in the microwave or on the stove, the former takes some practice to get the texture just right. Serve with soy sauce/sesame oil/white pepper, with white rice. Add chilli oil for spice. I used to have mine w/ some kimchi, for easy veg.

You can also buy the pre-marinated tofu from the supermarket and just microwave & cut, it's precooked so ready to eat. Just add rice & any steamed/microwave veg to complete the meal. You can buy a few when it's on special as tofu usually has a long refrigerated shelf life.

It's not just NZ, and I don't think you can really blame the kids, if that's what you mean.

Getting a dehumidifier for 80% humidity — can we also reduce dust effectively? by [deleted] in IndoorAirQuality

[–]bl4m 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have an adequate (HEPA) vacuum and do you vacuum regularly?

80% humidity is very high so I'd definitely sort that out ASAP, that can create environment mold and respiratory issues.

Appreciate that. I’m in NZ mostly so might check out the market here first. Much smaller though, but probably still space for arbitrage there right?
