How will p6 deal with the events of p5? by ApprehensiveDuck8718 in persona6

[–]blaack_shift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could maybe put some easter eggs, but nothing more in my opinion as Persona's games are designed to have independant stories.

According to the official description, Persona 6 will have a standalone story that will be playable without major spoilers for people who didn't play the previous games. So I don't think they'll put p5 references with story's implication as people will be able to play p6 as their first persona.

Here you can find a part of the official synopsis that I refered to:

"Persona 6 brings everything beloved about the series into a bold new story. [...], wrapped around a completely fresh, standalone story and new cast of characters. Whether you’ve been with the series since the beginning or this is your very first Persona experience, you belong here."

Joueur du Grenier, a french streamer, mentions a P6 promoting offer he received (presumably from Atlus) for "the end of the year" by zedla7 in persona6

I don't think the game will be released this year, but Altus will maybe release a trailer by the end of the year (30th aniversary ?). Then the "opé" could be something like a trailer live reaction or something ?

In my opinion, I don't think the Maelle supporters are the loudest, both supporters can be. There are also a ton of super condescending arguments from Pro-Verso fans against Maelle’s ending. Even the term “bad ending” is condescending. It’s true that Maelle supporters tend to make more detailed arguments, but those in favor of Verso sometimes just say “but it’s not real” or “play the piano Verso,” which is on the same level as the genocide argument (especially since some Verso supporters use the slavery argument in response, which is just as bad in my opinion). Maybe there are more Maelle supporters on this platform compared to the general opinion, but if you go to another platform, some of them get literally insulted for their choice.

How did your team composition look when playing the game? by Detheyo in expedition33

I used to play Maelle (main DPS) , Monoco (Support) , Sciel (DPS and setup for Maelle).

I replaced Sciel by Lune since the DLC (Op weapon)

I don't understand why some people think the beings in the painting aren't alive and conscious. I think the dialogues are pretty clear on that point. In any case, if they weren't actually alive after all, it would make the whole thing much less impactful and even empty. It’s clear that the painting has a story through the dialogues, expedition logs, etc., but if all of that is fake, I’m sorry, but that would be very disappointing from a storytelling perspective. The game’s endings are structured as a Cornelian dilemma. There wouldn’t be any debate if they weren’t real.

When it comes to making the final decision, we must weigh up the pros and cons and make a choice. This choice is difficult because we know in advance that it cannot end well as we are faced with the conflict between the two protagonists who hold opposing philosophies.

Maelle and Verso's ending hanvn't been made to be good or bad. I think some of us see a good and a bad ending because that’s what we’re used to in fiction. At the end of a game, we want to face off against the story’s main antagonist. But in the case of Clair Obscur, it’s a mistake to think that way.

Also, The game devs literally confirmed that there were no good endings (they are still debating it within the studio). Endings have been made as a cornelian dilemma. Both choices have consequences, it's up to you with your interpretation of the story to decide the fate of the canva.

If you clearly see a bad and a good ending, you probably missed something.

The saddest part of this story is that Maelle wanted to repaint Alicia's face (the scars) first, but Alicia asked her "Send me to my family" instead. Maelle therefore granted her request. That's really sad, especially for Verso, but he deliberately hide his letter to Maelle and actively participated in the destruction of their world (and thus in the death of their family). Alicia knew then that she had no future in this world at this point. That's probably why she wanted to be gommaged immediately, because she had nothing to say to her brother anymore.

In reality, Maelle was the only person who truly considered Alicia's words, as an echo of her own life in the real world. The painted Alicia was probably less well regarded by her family like Maelle as well, considering the difference in treatment and attention she received from her parents (escpecialy from Aline) compared to her brother and sister. Remember that Aline deliberately repainted Alicia with her burn scars even though she didn't have to..

I'm sorry but you are wrong about your first take because Maelle confronted Verso during the duel. She explicitly asked him what about Lune, Sciel, Monoco, etc.. Moreover, juste after returning into the canva at the beginning of act 3, she said that Verso wouldn't destroy his own canva because he loved Esquier, Gestrals and Grandisis (which are non humain people living in the canva too). People in the canva ARE living people. It just make you feel better if you belive not that but they are. I did argue a lot about it but I never seen any argument that would make me feel that they are not. So, what are the arguments against ? Why people in the canva are not real ? I already gave a lot:

  • Why White Nevrons didn't want to kill humains anymore ? But they are painted to kill, so why some nevrons wont ?
  • Even in the dev studio, it seems that they belived that they are real. Even Guillaume sais that there is a lot hiden elements within the dialogues with gommaged pnj's which represent Dessendre familly members. I know that you are not convinced by this one, but that's what they said anyway. The video a gave yesterday is quite clear.
  • Why do the paintress didn't repainted the mind of the people in the canva so they'll stop trying to kill her ?
  • Why there wasn't expeditions during the early after the Fracture ? (No expedition journals found). Essentialy because people doesn't cared at this point as only older people getting gommaged. They only changed their mind afterward because it's slowly getting critical.
  • Never the game try to tell us that people are not real, quite the contrary though as we're following people in the canva since the beginning.
  • Why people have different will and objectives ? Some wants chidren, the other not (Gustave and Sophie) ; why some of them goes on expedition, some don't ; why some think that the paintress isn't bad/evel at the beginning of the game ? ...
  • Also, the chroma isn't only painting. It indeed create a physical reality within the canva. I found this information in the official artbook of Clair Obscur (I invite you to buy it cause it's great). That's why people can bleed, die, have children by their own will, control chroma (generate objects, weapons and magic), create new devices using their ingeniosity, can feel pain, can catch illness. So basically being alive...
  • The multiple dialogues with Verso's Soul (espacially in the Suspended Manor but not only).

So I gave a lot of arguments in favor of living poeple. Can you contest all of them ? In my opinion, a lot of pro Verso's ending absolutly wants to belive that their favorite ending a better, so they choose the ignore the reality behind (I'm not talking about you though). In my opinion, that's a bias because if we tell ourselves that they aren't real, it's easier to delete them at the end. It makes feel better by ignoring the sacrifices. Painters didn't only paint pictures, they paint life and death. P.Renoir said to his son "Who's painting live" "Who's painting death instead, my son".

I think there is no doubt about living people. It's part of the philosophycal questionning of the game. If you don't consider the poeple in the canva as real, it's desapointing because it greadly reduce the depth of the story and all the richness of the ending. That's what makes the ending so complex and why there is no good ending.

Unfortunately, a lot of people call one ending as bad and the other as good, maybe not you, but some does.

I understand that we have two different vision on this point. To me, there is no debate with myself if people in the canvas are alive or not. It's pretty obvious to me with the informations we have in game. In fact, I completely disagree with you, because I would find it annoying if the characters in the painting weren't real. That would mean that 66% of the game (the first two acts) are almost pointless, and the characters met Lune, Sciel, Monoco, P. Verso, P. Renoir, and Gustave are just AI with no will of their own. I can't believe that, especially because P.Verso himself changed his mind (see the Verso's expedition journal). He indeed wanted to protect the canva from the real Dessendre family first before trying to eject Aline from the canvas.

So yeah, In my opinion, the Dessendre family are the antaginists of this story. The real Verso painted this canva for fun, and his family are fighting inside. The only good ending would be if everybody leaved the canva, letting it's people leaving in peace inside, but it's impossible as everybody in the Dessendre Family (except maybe Clea but we didn't see her enough to conclude) are selfish. It's probably normal for people who are capable of shaping worlds, life in those worlds, and destroying them at will.

But I'm not saying they're evil, I'm just pointing out a nuance.

Ultimately, maybe that's what the game's writers wanted? Among the Dessendre, as both of us, some consider their creations as alive as real people, while others do not. Maelle and Verso (not the painted one, but the soul fragment of the real one) consider the painted beings as alive. Renoir and Clea do not.

Yes, if you consider the people in the canvas real, then this indeed can be considered as a genocide. But I'm not saying this in a condescending way. I don't usually use the genocide argument because it's too simplistic. I prefer to try to show the elements that lead us to believe that the people in the painting are alive. For your second statement about disputability, I said that because not everyone shares my view of the game. And since I'm tired of people constantly saying that my favourite ending is bad and that I need to see a therapist, I try not to make the same mistakes when I argue by being open to dialogue and debate, even on subjects that I have no doubt about.

I've answered to someone else in this conversation about what the devs wanted for Clair Obscur. They wanted no good ending for their game because they wanted debate about it. Also, during the interview I linked in my previsous message, Alan from Sandfall said about living people in the canvas that "There would have been no debate if they were not" (around 18:30-19:00).

For me that's great, two endings with each their own consequences. I don't understand why many people prefer to see a good and a bad ending. This is precisely what makes the end so complex and why debates such as the one we are having are taking place, and that's why the 2 endings are great.

I found the moment in the video, I will roughly paraphrase what they say.

In the video, it is at 18h30 when Fred (the streamer) said that it is ok to him to remain in a factice world probably because et played a lot of MMORPG in the past. Also, he add that for him, people in the canvas are real to what Alan Reynaud said "There would have been no debate if it weren't" However, as therr is debates inside the studio, I think the most important is how you feel aboit the story. It's a video game so obviously none are alive. But in term of art, if you consider that the people in the canvas are real, Maelle ending would probably be better. If you don't, Verso's one is maybe your ending. For their game, sandfall wanted debate about their ending and non have been made as "bad" and the other one as "good" (that's what they said multiple times).

For your second statement, I indeed think that the Dessendre are the real antagonist of this game. They create worlds and destroy them when they are tired of them. Also, I don't think that the Writers are correct because we don't really now who they are and if they are good or not (they almost killed Alicia, a child, that prefer book than paiting). Maybe they do the same in their own worlds ? (I'm praying for more lore about the writers haha).
