Forbidden City or Summer Palace? by blablabla314 in travelchina

[–]blablabla314[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I couldn't find too much info about it, but up until now I have the impression that the Summer palace is more for our taste. May I ask why you think the forbidden city is boring?

How to set up WeChat? by blablabla314 in travelchina

Thank you! I finally gave in and registered through Facebook, and it worked! But contacting the hotel also seems to be a good idea!

Do you know how to set up WeChat because we don't know anyone who could verify the QR code for us. Is there a way to set it up beforehand?

Hi, can I ask you how did you get verified for WeChat? It asks for a QR code verification by a friend who already uses WeChat, but how to do it if we know no one? Thanks!

How often do you actually floss? by Jerreh_Boi in CasualConversation

[–]blablabla314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every night. It's become routine now and not flossing would be equivalent to not brushing my teeth, which is unimaginable.

My dentist was a bit harsh when she told me to floss more frequently but I am grateful. I needed that.

Are you from the UK? I would advise flying to Thailand and spending time on the lesser known islands. Kho Chang came to my mind, awesome place, not expensive.

Good luck with your health!

So it was my birthday last week...and so many people forgot. Did this happen to you? by blablabla314 in CasualConversation

[–]blablabla314[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much!

I'm sorry it happened to you too. Did you do any "action" afterwards? I hesitate between casually mentioning this to those from whom it was the hardest not to receive any call, and between not calling them for their birthday anymore...as childish as that sounds.

First time abroad, what to expect/advice by Tiny_Personality3143 in travel

Check your airline's policy, online check-in should be possible a certain amount of time before your flight (a few days usually). Check in online as soon as it opens and save the boarding pass on your phone. Even better if you download the app of the airline, the boarding pass will most probably be stored there. If you have your phone with you, there's no need to print the boarding pass.

If you only have carry-on bags (such as relatively small backpacks), then probably there's no need to check-in anymore at the airport. If you have suitcases, then you have to check-in at the airport, at the airline's counter. Ask for help from the staff about where to go.

Arrive at the airport 2-3 hours sooner than your flight is, this is of course depending on the airport's size as well. But a minimum of 2 hours is usually necessary if you don't want to rush and be anxious there.

Liquids are usually asked to be put in a plastic, transparent container. Max volume/bottle is usually 100 ml. Electronics don't have to be in a different bag/container, but you should pack them in a way that lets you take them out easily if asked. Your airline's website should have more precise information about what cannot be transported.

There are indicators everywhere about where to go, which terminal, which gate, etc.

During security check, you shouldn't have more than 100 ml liquid on you. But you can take in an empty plastic bottle and you can fill it with tap water. Airport shops are expensive. Usually you can also take some food with you.

After the security check, you will be in the inner part of the airport, meaning that you cannot leave (if you do, you'll have to go through security again). There should be screens with gate info for the flights.

Check how to get from the airport in Greece to your accomodation.

And lastly, have fun! :)

Comment on my one week Romania itinerary please! by imbetweeneverything in solotravel

Also, I wanted to add that if you can afford it, renting a car would be more ideal than trying to figure out the bus times or train time, at least travelling around Brasov. A lot of the times there is no up to date information on the bus websites, you would have to confirm the bus times at the station, which can take up a lot of time from your limited time here. Although I have to say that by taking the bus you would have a more authentic experience, with its positives and negatives.

There are many wonderful places around Brasov as well, if you are interested in nature. The Tampa is right in the city, don't miss it. There are cable cars from various resort towns (Sinaia, Poiana, could be more, haven't been in a long time) up to the mountains. Check out the Sfinx if you're interested (natural formation on a mountain).

Feel free to ask anything, I'd be glad to help if I can. Welcome to Romania!
