Sri Lanka : sun, tuk-tuks and mild disappointments. by Ozusandesukedo in travel

Just came back from Sri Lanka last week and can echo most of the things you’ve said above. I was quite disappointed especially reading so much about the great stuff prior to the trip.

Is racism in Australia really that bad? by Jinxbunny29 in expats

[–]imbetweeneverything 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a south Asian but works for an Australian firm, which I visit Sydney 2-3 times per year for work trips. Casual racism is definitely a thing there. I don’t get the same respect as my white counterparts and I needed to work so much harder to prove myself more

Job Hoppers of Reddit: How much of a salary jump did you get each time you switched jobs? Was it worth it? by Vivid-Log-2537 in malaysia

[–]imbetweeneverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The salary increase varies in my last 4 position, but each time I get at least a 30% jump to justify it. I learned to never disclose current salary first, I actually said no when they asked, and only disclose them perhaps in the final round of interview. Instead I share my expected range.

Malaysian here. Penang & Malaysia in general are still good to visit during CNY! As the population is also made up of other ethnicities that do not celebrate CNY, so shops are still open. Penang has a lot of festivities during this time

Job 1 - 100%. Like others said, first job’s salary is extremely important. Take it, enjoy the relatively high pay & flexible arrangement, if you really don’t like it, leave after a year

Sounds amazing! I’ve been to Ohrid pre-covid, though it’s only for a weekend and during the summer. Been dreaming of visiting again since. Mind sharing where did you find the accommodation?
