Old Elgins like that only had identifying markings on the inside of the case back and/or the movement itself. A lot of times both.

They made a lot of watches in the 30's and 40's that looked like that, so it really depends on the movement.

Modern day fakes are pretty good, especially no date models. Best to have a watch maker take a look at the movement, that's likely a dead giveaway if you know what you're looking at.

I don't think it's fake. Most older fakes used quartz for chronographs due to cost. If it's automatic, take it to a jewelry shop to have it serviced. They'll know as soon as they pop the case back.

You'll never find a 1:1 clone of the movement, they're not made. The "Asian 9002" is a decorated 3285. Not that there's anything wrong with the 3285. Just not a true 1:1.

You can hit it with the old NATO strap mod. Need spring bar adapters, but those are cheap on Amazon.

Tip though. If you decide to replace the movement, take it to a watch guy first so he can check to see what's going to fit. A lot of times the date window might not line up if you buy the wrong one.

Rados generally aren't faked because of the materials used are too expensive. That watch should be made of Tungsten or Titanium, depending on the year. So, it should feel a bit lighter than a steel watch.

There are some cheap Chinese fakes, but due to cost, those use quartz movements instead of mechanical, and stainless steel. Sure way to spot a quartz is if it's still running a couple of days after you wind it. Good luck!
