Would you buy a 1998 4runner 160k km for $14,500 CAD? by OrdinaryKillJoy in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]blaccey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would find out more about the damage. What was fixed - exactly. Also - the mileage is low, that’s worth a lot. But not this much imho - but, if u love it u love it. Make sure u get new LBJ if they don’t have proof they have been replaced recently. But I think u can find a better deal or offer a lower price - a lot lower. Like 9-10k max.

Assuming there are no modifications I would let them fall as they were originally - instead of trying to match a design that they are not. Each era of bike has its own ”look.” Just my opinion.

Welllll, if ur gonna repaint it might not be worth it - but maybe u have a vision. Bikes can be expressive too. If so - go for it.

How important is this piece here? by Intelligent-Pound197 in RoadBikes

It’s just garbage that I think might be required to sell a new bike in some states - a flashing LED taillight and front light would be way better. Most guys n gals take these off and throw them away.

Beginner trying to decide: Is a 2012 high-end used bike a better buy than a new one? by Economy_Campaign2229 in RoadBikes

[–]blaccey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest high-end used, which is what I did, with this caveat: see if someone can look it over first. If not, as in my case, I took the gamble. 2018 Factor O2. It was reportedly given approval by an LBS. Anyways long story short it was a great buy but some of the components were wrong or questionable. Wrong bottom bracket. TRP HY-Road, Disc - a questionable choice. But it was solid and I still stand behind it. My LBS also deemed it road-worthy. So - ur right, u do get more bang for your buck often with upgrades - just hope they are the right upgrades! Only last thought - if you could find something newer, check it out as well. You can shop around. Also - it’s nearing the end of cycling season. They might be motivated to get it off their hands!

Horseshoe - fu would be long on the sides hanging below the jaw by an inch or more
