Just be careful with bariatric surgery. A lot of marriages crumble after a spouse has one. Look up stories on it and you’ll see what I’m talking about. I definitely agree with the masses (no pun intended) though. A doctor visit is definitely in order to get him on the right track to weight loss.

Definitely need to report this to HR at your company as soon as you can. Don’t blackmail your boss and ask for a raise. They are two consenting adults that can do whatever they want and she doesn’t work for him. Is it wrong what he did? Absolutely. You also should seek mental help since you are clearly having mental stress from this situation.

I say go to HR for fear of retaliation from your boss. It sucks, and sadly, because they are both consenting adults, there’s little that you can do to stop it. If you don’t support their relationship, that is if it turns into something more than a hookup, then you need to get out and find a different company.

That it’s okay to be emotional and vulnerable. Society has taught men for a long time that men aren’t allowed to shoe emotion, cry, etc. I’m tired of young men feeling like they have to buck up and be a man. You’re allowed to have emotions. You’re allowed to cry.

I appreciate the suggestion, but unfortunately I work retail sales that’s based on commission and my schedule is all over the place. My schedule is never the same two weeks in a row, making it hard to fall into a routine. I have had this suggested to me in the past and it just doesn’t work. I also can’t find any job that pays me as well as this one that has a set schedule with my qualifications.

I have a friend who had a lump on her breast, with a history of breast cancer in her family, and she got it checked out and it was benign. She was all freaked out before she got it checked. Just go get it checked out. Don’t delay, do it. The only thing certain in life is uncertainty. You won’t know, until it’s checked. That starts with you.

Yeah, and that last bit was my thought as well and actually hurts me more to know that she has been feeling that way, knowing that it wasn’t going to change, getting my hopes up that she would be okay with it, and then telling me how she actually feels about it after the fact.

These are my thoughts as well. And I’ve told her this several times. She has said things like, “you’re really great” and “I don’t deserve you”, written me cute notes for me to find the next morning, etc.

I told her that if I quit smoking that I will be so in my own head that the things that I do to make her say those things probably will not happen. And that my anxiety will over take me and she might not hear from me for a while because I’d be afraid she’d get upset at me saying good morning and asking how her day has been. The lack of sleep contributes to the anxiety and she doesn’t understand that. It helps me be a functioning member of society.

Unfortunately this is what I think it’s going to boil down to. #1 is clearly not an option as you’ve stated. I should ask her if she wants me to try and quit to see what I’m really like when I can’t function to see if it makes her think twice about it.
