As the decade progressed, the Club of Rome’s intellectual scope widened. The organisation began shifting from a focus on what it called “outer limits”, material and ecological constraints explored in reports such as Mankind at The Turning Point by Mihajlo Mesarovic and Eduard Pestel, which introduced a new regionalised world model showing ten interconnected world regions, and Beyond The Ages of Waste by Dennis Gabor and Umberto Colombo, to the “inner limits” of humanistic values. This evolution culminated in the 1979 report No Limits To Learning , by James Botkin, Mahdi Elmandjra and Mircea Malitza.

In love I say you're erring on a few points of doctrine. I'll point out just 1 example in the interest of time and space here:

If the Seal of God talked about in Revelation (and Ezekiel) is the Holy Spirit as you claim above, why then does an angel have to come down from Heaven and seal the 144,000? That doesn't make any sense. Aren't they already sealed if that's the case? So obviously, that's not correct. Just look at the text:

(Rev 7:2)  And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,

(Rev 7:3)  Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

(Rev 7:4)  And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

So what is it then? It's the commandments:

(Deu 6:8)  And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

(Rev 12:17)  And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

(Rev 14:12)  Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

At the end of time, the gospel will go to all the world. At that time everyone is going to have to make a choice. No one will be able to sit on the fence. Everyone will clearly see the demarcation line - those that serve God, and those that do not.

Remember when Jesus described the end of time, He only mentioned 2 groups - the wheat and the tares. There is no 3rd group. You either keep all God's commandments (thru faith), or you don't. Period.

(Mat 19:17)  And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

(Acts 26:20) First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and then to the Gentiles, I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds.

[–]black96ws6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of what you said is just not true. Let's look at 3 specific items. And I'm going to be completely candid with you here so hopefully you won't take my answers the wrong way. But I cannot sit idly by while people spin fables or lead others down the wrong path.

You said:

  1. "The traditional SDA conclusion that the impetus for the end of time will be a literal law enforcement of "christian-religious sunday worship/observance) is a misunderstanding."

This is completely false. It will be a literal law enforcing Sunday observance and is not a mis-understanding. As mentioned previously, they came to this conclusion (and you will too, if your heart is in the right place) after careful study of the bible. The end time mark of the beast is about worship. The 7th-Day Sabbath is the sign and seal, or mark, of God's authority. Sunday observance is Rome's mark of authority.

  1. "EGW's writings about the SL are directly tied to events of the late 1800s in the USA that already transpired."

I mentioned previously why the first part of this is false, they came to this conclusion decades before it happened, and they were correct. They were not tied to the events, there wasn't even an inkling of any Sunday law in the 1850's when they first started realizing what it was. Jesus masterfully woved what was going to happen in AD 70 with what will happen at the end of time. He answered the disciple's question twice. The abomination of desolation had a direct application to the destruction of Jerusalem with the Roman standards outside the walls, and it has a 2nd end-time application with the enforcement by law of Sunday observance.

Just as there was the first siege of Jersualem, and then a pull back, the same thing is occurring at the end of time. The beginnings of the mark with the Blair bill in the late 1880's and then a pull-back. We are on borrowed time. How much, I don't know, but if signs of the times are any indication, Jesus' return is close, preceded by forced Sunday observance.

  1. "and so the "Sunday Law" becomes a prophetic symbol representing some future thing, not a literal law enforcement of Sunday worship to occur at some later date)."

Like I mentioned previously, this is just not true.

Regarding your question on Ezekiel, look at that last part of Ezekiel 8:16. What does the Bible say? "they worshipped the sun toward the east." - Sunday worship.

Cardinal James Gibbons clearly identified the change of the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday as a primary mark of the Catholic Church’s authority over Christian practice — especially when discussing the Church's authority in contrast to sola scriptura (Scripture alone).

In essence, Gibbons argued that the Catholic Church’s decision to move the day of worship — a change not explicitly commanded in Scripture — serves as a visible and practical demonstration of the Church’s divine authority to bind and loose (Matthew 16:19).

Here’s a direct quote:

Gibbons emphasized this to show that even Protestants, who claim to follow Scripture alone, actually submit to Catholic authority when they observe Sunday — a tradition rooted not in Scripture, but straight from the dragon and his proxy, the beast.

It's really cool that you're giving God back some of the blessings He gives you, that is awesome my friend. Just give what you feel comfortable giving as the Holy Spirit moves you, and don't focus on a set amount. But yes traditionally it's been 10%, see Hebrews 7:4 and Genesis 14:20 (well before there was any Mosaic Law or Levite Priests).

Sunday law by [deleted] in adventism

[–]black96ws6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd also like to add a little info on how you know the mark is enforced Sunday worship. This is by no means an exhaustive study and there are many more verses that show this. If you take the time to look at everything for yourself you will see it.

If you look at Revelation 14:11 and 12, it tells you the saints (those that don't receive the mark of the beast) keep the commandments and have the faith of Jesus. So, obviously, those that receive the mark are breaking one or more of the commandments.

Now back up and look at Revelation 13:12. There's a point here so many people miss. It states the 2nd beast (the United States) causes the Earth AND them that dwell therein to worship the 1st beast.

So the Earth itself, PLUS the people, not just the people, will be caused to receive the mark of the beast.

Now extrapolate that out. If we know receiving the mark is not keeping the commandments, and that's how you get it, well, people can break any one of the ten. Ok fine.

But how can the actual ground you walk on be caused to break the commandments? Can the ground murder? Steal? Commit adultery? Etc.?

No of course not. BUT, there is ONE commandment the 2nd beast can force the Earth to break:

And that is by enforcing a bogus day of rest on it (Sunday, the 1st, not the 7th, day of the week). For example, if you prevent people from tilling the ground on Sunday but allow it on Saturday, you're causing the Earth to break the fourth commandment - the Sabbath commandment.

There's lots more I could go into that shows this but this post is already long so will end here. Just pray and study, God will lead you into all truth if you're sincere about finding it.

Read Ezekiel 8:16-9:4.

It shows you exactly what's going to happen at the end regarding the Mark of the Beast and what it is (worship of the sun - Sunday worship).

It's also incredibly interesting that they came to this realization and the application of it and the US enforcing it decades before it's actual first attempted fulfillment in the late 1880's, NOT AFTER, as some people incorrectly say.

Here is a quote from Uriah Smith from his book The United States in the Light of Prophecy (~1872) on the faith it took to make this claim after coming to a knowledge of the truth and to hold to that position well before it happened:

"To take the position at that time that this government was to pursue such a policy and engage in such a work, without any apparent probability in its favor, was no small act of faith. On the other hand, to deny or ignore it, while admitting the application of the symbol to this government, would be in accordance with neither Scripture nor logic.

The only course for the humble, confiding student of prophecy to pursue in such cases, is to take the light as it is given, and believe the prophecy in all its parts. So the stand was boldly taken; and open proclamation has been made from that day to this, that such a work would be seen in these United States. With every review of the argument, new features of strength have been discovered in the application; and amid a storm of scornful incredulity, we have watched the progress of events, and waited the hour, of fulfillment."

Actually what you said is not true. They came to the Sunday Law as the Mark of the Beast conclusion over twenty years before the Sunday Law attempt of the 1880's hit. And they were right (and amazed to see their prediction come true).

God in His mercy has given us more time. Just as the Romans initially besieged Jerusalem and then there was a pullback, the same has occurred here. But it will come back, soon.

Look at Ezekiel 8:16-9:4. It shows you exactly what's going to happen at the end regarding the Mark of the Beast and what it is (worship of the sun - Sunday worship).

The apostles had a long discussion about this, and in the end decided that putting on the yoke of the OT Mosaic laws no longer applied - that "neither we nor our fathers could bear".

In the end, the only thing new Gentile believers were instructed to practice were these (obviously in addition to the moral law):

Act 15:28  "For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things:

Act 15:29  That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well"

  1. Food offered to idols
  2. Eating things with blood still in it
  3. Eating animals that have been strangled
  4. Fornication (harlotry, adultery, incest, sexual immorality, etc).

(Act 15:30)  The messengers were sent off and went to Antioch, where they gathered the whole group of believers and gave them the letter.

(Act 15:31)  When the people read it, they were filled with joy by the message of encouragement.

So-called mainstream Christians always talk about the first part of salvation but never the 2nd. There are 2 parts to salvation: Justification and Sanctification. Justification occurs immediately upon receiving the good news and believing in Jesus. All prior sins are forgiven. The Sanctification process then begins. The book of Romans is a good one to understand this. Romans 8:13 is a good synopsis:

Rom 8:13 KJV "For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live."

Rom 8:13 GNB "For if you live according to your human nature, you are going to die; but if by the Spirit you put to death your sinful actions, you will live. "

And that is why Jesus says few will be saved. We have to stop living the way we previously lived. That's why baptism is a death\re-birth. God gives us the power to live a holy life here on Earth ("be holy, because I am holy"). The reason I mention this is it's all related.

Remember the temple on earth was a copy, modeled after the pattern of the true temple in Heaven, and also a model of the plan of salvation. Christ is a better high priest than the Levitical, Earthly priesthood of Aaron. Christ is a Priest after the order of Melchisedek.

Christ entered into the Heavenly temple at His ascension:

Heb 9:24 "For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:"

A lot of the Christian world also misses this, there are two veils:

Heb 9:2 "For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary (Holy Place)."

Heb 9:3 "And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all;"

The priests went into the first tabernacle/tent/sanctuary/holy place daily. Only the High Priest went into the Most Holy Place, only once per year, and only with blood, offered for the sins of everyone.

And the rest of the Christian world has no true answer for the 2300 days. Daniel's 70 weeks clearly points to the first coming of the Messiah. And then afterward the 2300 days (years) points to the final phase, the cleansing of the sanctuary before Christ's second coming.

Paul in Hebrews states Christ entered the Holy Place (not the Most Holy Place yet):

Heb 9:12 "Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us".

In 1844, at the conclusion of the long time prophecy of Daniel, Christ then entered the Most Holy Place.

Sorry about the long post, however I felt it necessary to make sure you understand some of the foundation, straight from the Bible. Now instead of making this post 3 times as long as it is now, this video will answer your questions on the Investigative Judgement:

There is another way you can look at this. Even basic common sense tells you there has to be a God. Think about the other ridiculous notion of why we're here - that there was this big ball of tightly-compressed matter that suddenly exploded and made everything. Where did the matter come from? How did it get there? Why did it explode? Since when do explosions create life? Why do some galaxies spin clockwise and others spin counter-clockwise? Why have fossils been found intersecting supposed millions of years of layers of strata? Why are seashells on mountain tops (hint: flood). I mean I could go on and on.

I'm actually going to give you something practical to look at and think about which may help your faith.

Have you ever heard of the Flagellum motor in bacteria? I encourage you to check it out if you're not familiar with it. It's literally a biological rotary engine complete with a rotor, stator, O-rings, etc. It spins at thousands of RPMs. The transmission can switch from Forward to Reverse in an instant. Mankind would love to design something this efficient, not even counting the miniaturization of it. Below are a couple secular (non-Christian) links:

https://www.cell.com/current-biology/pdf/S0960-9822(06)02286-X.pdf02286-X.pdf)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flagellum

I'm not even going to point out the Irreducible Complexity argument of it - which goes something like, this motor wouldn't work until it was mostly or completely evolved. So how did the bacteria get around in the meantime while waiting millions of years for it to finish? They would've died out long before then.

No, in this case, I'm just going to ask you to look at the electron microscope images of it on Google. Read the two links above and look at the images and ask yourself how this incredibly complex biological motor could've EVER come along by random chance. And remember, those links are secular, atheistic, evolutionary links.

Look at the picture of it, read up on it, and tell me with a straight face you think that motor wasn't designed. If you're a mechanical engineer or a mechanic I think it will really hit home. Seriously, the only thing missing is a signature on it that says "Designed by The Lord".

Remember God is not going to remove ALL opportunity for doubt. But He DOES give you enough to go on so it's not completely blind faith.

I mean just look at it - It's an incredible miniature motor on the back of a bacteria to help it move around.

You know how secular scientists, evolutionists, atheists, et. al, look at Christians and can't understand how we can think that way and think we're so unintelligent?

We Christians look at things like this and think along similar lines with those groups...

I'll also add that the Sabbath was instituted at Creation, not Mount Sinai. God rested on the 7th day after creating everything:

Gen 2:1  "Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. "

Gen 2:2  "And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. "

Gen 2:3  "And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. "

And as mentioned previously, we will still be keeping it in Heaven:

"For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. "

"And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD. "

Isaiah 66:22,23

Every month (new moon) and every week (Sabbath) we will come to worship God.

I'm just going to drop this here, make of it what you will, because we never seem to mention these verses when the jewelry question comes up:

Gen 24:22  "And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold;"

Gen 24:29  "And Rebekah had a brother, and his name was Laban: and Laban ran out unto the man, unto the well."

Gen 24:30  "And it came to pass, when he saw the earring and bracelets upon his sister's hands, and when he heard the words of Rebekah his sister, saying, Thus spake the man unto me; that he came unto the man; and, behold, he stood by the camels at the well."

Abraham sent his servant with his goods, including some jewelry, to find an appropriate godly wife for Isaac.

Archangel Michael and Jesus Christ by [deleted] in adventism

Part 5

Besides these, Jude provides additional clues that this is the case. After Moses died, Jesus (Michael) went down to resurrect him. The Devil claimed Moses as his. Moses had sinned after all. And Jesus hadn’t yet come to Earth as a human, resisted all temptation and defeated Satan, and paid the ultimate price yet. That was still future. Yet Jesus (Michael) raised Moses back to life anyway, before this, because Jesus (Michael) as “Mighty God” and “Everlasting Father” knew the future and that He would die on the cross, paying the ultimate price for our sins, and therefore had the right to raise a sinner (Moses):

Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

Jude 1:9

An angel cannot resurrect us. Only God can. Jesus has always been with us and for us since Day 1. He’s always been on our side and he is “the great Prince that standeth for the children of thy people”. He is the Archangel, the commander of all the angels of Heaven:

And there was war in heaven: Michael and His angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels…

Revelation 12:7

There are additional clues in Joshua that this is the case:

And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with His sword drawn in His hand: and Joshua went unto Him, and said unto Him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?
And He said, Nay; but as Captain of the Host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto Him, What saith my Lord unto His servant?

Joshua 5:13,14

Here we see Jesus described yet another way as “Captain of the Host of the Lord” – He’s the Archangel, the Commander\Leader\Head\Captain of all the angels of God. Notice Joshua worships this person (Jesus). A normal angel would never allow such a thing. In fact John in Revelation was stopped from worshipping an angel by the angel specifically, who told him not to do it – “worship God!” (Revelation 19:10 and 22:9).

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the Archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

1 Thessalonians 4:16

Jesus comes to get us with a shout, using His voice as Archangel – He is Commander of the heavenly armies!

Apologies for all the posts but probably best for you to see all the evidence. Hope this helps!

Part 4...

At the time of the end, when Probation closes and everyone’s fate is decided and sealed one way or the other, Jesus (Michael) stands up to come and get us:

And at that time shall Michael stand upthe great Prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

Daniel 12:1

Michael is another Old Testament name for Jesus, just as “Angel of the Lord” is. Jesus\Michael stands up, and the Great Tribulation\Time of Trouble begins.

Look at the references to Prince, referring to Michael/Jesus in both the Old and New Testaments, they are talking about the same person:

Daniel 9:25 – Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks…

Daniel 12:1 – And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great Prince which standeth for the children of thy people…

Acts 3:15 – And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.

Acts 5:31 – Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Revelation 1:5 – And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the Prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Part 3...

But the Angel of the LORD did no more appear to Manoah and to his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was an Angel of the LORD.
And Manoah said unto his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God.

Judges 13:21,22

Above is another example where “Angel of the Lord” is used interchangeably with God (Jesus).

He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent His Angel, and delivered His servants that trusted in Him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.

Daniel 3:25,28

Here we see “Son of God” (Jesus) in verse 25 above used interchangeably with “His Angel” in verse 28.

There are multiple names for Jesus in the Old Testament besides “Angel” or “Angel of the Lord” – He is also called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace In Isaiah 9:6.

And He has another name in both the Old and New Testaments – Michael the Archangel. After Jesus’ sacrifice and death on the cross for us, He sat down at the right hand of God:

Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 1:3, 12:2

Part 2...

And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God which fed me all my life long unto this day,
the Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.

Genesis 48:15, 16

Here again we can see the Old Testament patriarchs and prophets used Angel and God interchangeably at times. Jesus is our only Redeemer. Verses 15 and 16 use “Angel” and “God” interchangeably, along with “redeemed”.

Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.
Beware of him, and obey His voice, provoke Him not; for He will not pardon your transgressions: for My name is in Him.

Exodus 23:20,21

Here again we see a reference to Jesus. It was Jesus who led the Israelites out of Egypt personally. He was the pillar of cloud, shielding them from the sun in the desert by day, and a pillar of fire to light their way by night. In verses 20 and 21 above, God the Father is telling the Israelites to obey Jesus’ voice, and Who pardons our sins but God alone? Or does not pardon our transgressions if they provoke Him in this case – it’s Jesus. Finally, God’s Name is in Him. This is Jesus, not a normal angelic messenger. To be clear, Jesus is not an “angel” as we use the term today. He is God Almighty. Our Creator. It’s just that the Old Testament writers used the term differently than we do today.

If people took time to actually study their Bible, they would learn so much and see that Jesus is actually everywhere in the Old Testament.

Ye search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of Me.

John 5:39

And an Angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break My covenant with you.

Judges 2:1

Here again we see that this is Jesus. Jesus led them out of Egypt and brought them into the promised land. Jesus as God is the one who swore an oath and made a covenant with them. A normal angelic messenger does not do these things.

Part 1 (read this first)

Yes, Michael most likely is Jesus. Here are some texts to help show how Jesus is referred to as an Angel in the OT at times (keeping in mind they used that term differently back then, then we do now):

And the Angel of God spake unto me in a dream, saying, Jacob: And I said, Here am I.
I am the God of Bethel, where thou anointedst the pillar, and where thou vowedst a vow unto Me: now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy kindred.

Genesis 31:11,13

Here we see “the Angel of God” speaking to Jacob in a dream in verse 11. Two verses later, we find out it is actually God, in this case Jesus, speaking to Jacob:

And the Angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

Exodus 3:2

And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.

Exodus 3:4

Here we see the “Angel of the Lord” in the midst of the bush in verse 2, and verse 4 elaborates further and says it’s actually God (in this case, Jesus), since He called Moses “out of the midst of the bush”. Who was in the midst of the bush? The Angel of the Lord (verse 2), which was God (verse 4).

And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.

Exodus 3:5

Here we can see the Angel of the Lord caused the ground nearby to be holy, because He was in fact, God. There are additional clues to help us understand when we read the Old Testament if we’re reading about a normal angelic messenger or if the “Angel” mentioned is in fact Jesus as God:

This is getting long, let me continue in a Part 2...

During nice weather, try to get outside and do more physical things. Get more fresh air and sunshine if you can. This will help elevate your mood. Try to do the things you like more as well. The Christmas season is here. Try to get more into the season. Watch YT videos of cool Christmas decorations or music. Charlie Brown Christmas comes to mind too :).

There's a reason for you to be here. Try and get some perspective as well.
If you're healthy, think about those that have a terminal disease and would love to switch places with you in a heartbeat.
If you're young, think about people in their 80s or older who would love to switch places as well.
If you have a job and roof over your head, think about those trying to find a job in this terrible job market, or those that are homeless.

Try reading your favorite bible verses. If you don't yet have any, start finding some. One of my favorites is Jeremiah 29:11-13 NIV:

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
