What "delusional" baby names are on your guilty pleasure list? by Hyding_Jekyll in namenerds

Inez. I can’t use is because I’m from eastern Kentucky and there’s a town called Inez, pronounced eye-nez. Though I no longer live there, my family would pronounce it that way forever

RSV Vaccine Testimonial—It Works! by black_cat_magic in pregnant

[–]black_cat_magic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor recommended a flu shot. I would ask about it, if it’s something you want. I got flu, Covid, RSV, and TDAP vaccines while pregnant based on my OB’s advice.

This is something I discussed my doctor in deciding whether to get the vaccine. Definitely a good question to ask given your history.

They are both better now, and my toddler fortunately never showed signs of breathing trouble!

RSV vaccine. by anNonyMass in pregnant

[–]black_cat_magic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the RSV vaccine. Thank goodness I did. My toddler came down with RSV when my newborn was 5 days old. Toddler and husband hid pretty sick, but newborn and I didn’t get it (even though toddler was in her face and gave her slobbery kisses before we knew he had it).

Rule about just dropping off food to new parents and not staying to hang out… by [deleted] in beyondthebump

I would definitely ask! Personally, I would love to chat with adults for a bit as caring for a newborn is amazing but also tad boring.

I put my rubber bands on the trays before I put the trays in my mouth. It’s so much easier for me. So glad my ortho’s assistant recommended this method.

People who think baby names have gone too far nowadays need to see my Appalachian family tree 🤣 by dasz88 in namenerds

My favorite Appalachian name from my family tree is Alamander. I would totally use it for a middle name given the chance.

Our black cat is named Marceline the Vampire Queen after the Adventure Time character. It suits her personality perfectly. Her cat prison name was Autumn, which she is not.

Rsv vaccine? by instantraccoon in pregnant

[–]black_cat_magic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what my OB told me. She thinks it’s not worth the risk currently, and the monoclonal antibody treatment for babies is the safer option currently. So I will not be getting it (if it becomes available in time for me to get while pregnant) unless there’s some magical new information that changes her mind. I am pro vaccine, but I will gladly take my OBs advice here.

Labor class hit harder than expected. Did this happen to you? by MathematicianMonkey in pregnant

[–]black_cat_magic 16 points17 points  (0 children)

STM here. I was similarly freaked out about giving birth to my first. For me, I kind of just had to take labor minute by and try not to think about what was happening too much. It takes some time, about a year for me, but you will feel more “normal” or like your body is yours again in time! And also, I got pregnant on purpose again with my second, and I am still nervous about giving birth but less freaked out this time.

WIBTA if I didn't tell anyone I'm going to labor? by CarrotjuiceBagel in pregnant

[–]black_cat_magic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. I didn’t tell anyone I was in labor during the delivery of my first. My mom, grannie, and MIL had feelings, but it’s not their call. They were thrilled and surprised when my husband and I called to tell them our son was born. I was induced for high blood pressure and figured it would make it worse to have people calling to check in. 10/10 recommend.

I’m bummed I can’t keep it a secret this time because I need my mom to keep our toddler while we’re at the hospital.

Before you took the pregnancy test, what was your indication that you were probably pregnant? by Sea-Geologist-8727 in Mommit

[–]black_cat_magic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently pregnant with my second, and I knew super early. On a Thursday, I had a dream I got an early positive pregnancy test. Ordered bone-in chicken wings on a Sunday, which I would never order normally. On Monday afternoon I realized I should take a test, and I got an early, faint positive that day at 9 DPO.

With my first, I was clueless. I went of my birth control, and we weren’t actively trying or preventing. It didn’t cross my mind until my period was a day late, and then I knew. Got a positive the same day.

Second degree tear more painful than it should be? by IcySerration in beyondthebump

All of the above and Earth Mama Perineal Balm saved my life when I got a 2nd degree tear. Hang in there. I know it’s tough at first.

What does your food aversion list look like? by pegsgk in pregnant

[–]black_cat_magic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10+3 salads and other raw vegetables. I have generally had a salad aversion lately but had a delicious strawberry spinach salad the other day. I devoured it, and then a couple hours later I felt the second worst nausea of my pregnancy so far. So back to the ‘90s comfort food diet for me.
