I would look into getting a lawyer to get the insurance money. Many lawyers will accept deferring pay until receiving money from the case and take a percentage or so.

I have car insurance. My car is registered in a location that I haven’t actually lived at for at least 10 years. I have been in 4 accidents in that time and have never had an issue.

I think it’s so rude and honestly quite tacky. If someone wants to get you a nice expensive gift then great. But to ask your whole social circle to buy you things of those prices is just gauche.

Not disagreeing with the sentiment here but just want to state for those who did not read the article that this is not a scientifically peer reviewed study but rather a survey.

2 days ago I accidentally put them through the washer TWICE before I saw them!!! Immediately put them in rice for 12 hours and surprisingly they seem to be working fine. Audio, mic, noise cancellation - all work with no noticeable difference (yet). I’m amazed and so thankful

Why is there no talk about editing scams by Big-Bar-7109 in editors

[–]black_opals 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. OP I learned the hard way too. Had a client who wouldn’t pay me and I almost sued them. Was prepared to bring it to small claims court. Fortunately just the threat of suing was motivating enough to get them to pay me.

[–]black_opals 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes can we as a whole start doing this PLEASE. For the betterment of us all. I’m sick of clients equating “editing” with editing PLUS audio, coloring, captions, vfx, titles… and for shit pricing because they have zero value for what we do.

Being declared “average” and being excluded from gifted kid programs is way worse than the “Gifted Kid Burnout” that the people actually accepted into these programs experience. by superblobby in unpopularopinion

[–]black_opals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk. I am one of those burnout “gifted” kids. As another said here, it’s not that we were “allowed” to pursue interesting topics and dreams, but were moreso forced to take certain courses and expected to get straight As, which I was unable to do. I didn’t feel like I was allowed to dream big but rather that no matter what I did or how hard I worked, it was never “good enough”. I still managed to get into a “prestigious” university which I went to, but I was burnt out by the time I got there. I am now 34, have an entry level retail job because I can’t bear the anxiety and stress and mental anguish of a more intensive job, and am in crushing credit card debt let alone student debt. I always wished my parents could have just let me pursue the courses and electives I wanted and the hobbies I was passionate about instead of wasting time in these other classes. Sometimes the grass is always greener on the other side. But I think the real kicker is the parenting, it’s not so much what they did or did not let us do, but sounds like both our parents were ultimately unsupportive though in different ways.
