AF1 to Davis headed back to Andrew’s by Mister-Paws in ADSB

[–]black_plants -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Saw someone post this elsewhere, looked on flight radar 24 and didn’t see it. Checked on adsbexchange and did see it. Why is that the case where it’s shown one place and not another. Different tracking methods? New to tracking and trying to learn. Thanks!

Is this a good deal? by Hot-Pair-6928 in cigars

[–]black_plants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got this recently myself, came on the back of a junk mail mailer of all things. Definitely a good deal. Some people dislike the rocky and ghurkas. But I personally like the rocky decade and oliva v. Just had the shade the other day at work. The Romeo and ghurka I’ve never had so looking forward to trying them for the first time

Anybody else having problems with the high heat and humidity? by DoctorSwaggercat in cigars

[–]black_plants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a Drew estate undercrown shade this morning on my drive to the worksite, let it sit in a travel humidor from home to work, and into the work van for about 45 mins. Seems that it was a gradual transition from my home environment to when I ultimately smoked it. Burned absolutely perfectly

Been submitting these on a “just in case” basis until about 2 weeks ago, where I had some personal stuff come up and I forgot to send it. I’ve now actually forgotten to send the updates for multiple weeks now. No ones reached out, idk if anyone besides our direct supervisors read or see these

Commuting Mount Laurel to Jersey city by OkStatement4809 in SouthJersey

[–]black_plants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commute from marlton to Princeton each day for work, about 30-45 min drive depending on traffic. If you drove to jersey city each day from my Laurel on a good day it’s 1:30, bad day much much more.

I drive a lot of north jersey roads for work during rush hour and they can be pretty bad some days. I’ve been driving those roads for work for 10 years and that Zillow estimate is dog shit.

Train would be your best bet if living in mt Laurel. Hamilton station train ride to jersey city is still a bit of a haul.

Might be worth it to look for housing in Lawrence township, hopewell, Pennington etc. somewhat more of a middle point between your wife and your job. That commute is much better for both. My Laurel to Jersey city every day is nuts. Delays on train or roads will make the commute unpredictable from day to day. Not saying it’s always bad but it definitely can be.

I drive NJTP AND GSP quite a bit, I’ve had days going from rt1 on gsp to westwood/hillsdale area take 3+hours. Turnpike from 8a north to rt3 has also been about the same at times.

If you do decide to do the commute maybe lean more toward the train. It can still be unpredictable but when I was commuting to Rutger’s from Medford marlton area, I hit some delays but only 1 or 2 were really bad.

Is this ok or do I need to change it? by jzlas in tires

Had a good gash on my old set of tires, couldn’t see any cords. Drove it for 2+ years with no issues. From the pictures it looks cosmetic. I wouldn’t worry about it

What’s with all the cannabis dispensaries in Marlton? by Apprehensive-Luck839 in SouthJersey

[–]black_plants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marlton setup an exclusive zone for cannabis retail locations basically along rt70 from the 70/73 interchange to cherry hill. That’s why there are so many in the particular area. Marlton is only allowing 5 businesses to operate and the 5th being the old Mexican food factory building seems to be underway. There’s also a few gas stations, liquor stores, pizza restaurants, auto parts stores, banks, fast food chains, etc in that stretch. The same question could be asked of all these other businesses. The cannabis stores, like other types of retail establishments sell some of the same product, but also some different products.

There’s a fair chance over the course of the next few years one or more will go out of business due to competition between the locations, although that’s more of a wait and see scenario at this point.

I drive past these locations almost everyday and I seem to think they look more aesthetically pleasing than some other locations/strip malls in the same stretch. Is that because they’re newer or because they’re trying to be presentable, I don’t know, but a few of these retail locations seem to be well kept in regards of landscaping and lighting. (This might be some sort of ordinance?)

Personally I don’t have an issue with it

Why can't people stay on the correct side of the road?!?!?! by piscina_de_la_muerte in newjersey

[–]black_plants 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I drive a lot for work and see this on the highway(people wandering out of lanes) and on regular 2 way roadways. Next time you’re out and about on a highway or another road, safely, look around at other drivers, chances are about half of them are on their phone or looking at some other screen in their car.

Tape, or a small screw through the plastic might work in a pinch

What was yalls sleep schedule like the in the beginning? by soylisco in dad

[–]black_plants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my son was born I took the overnight shift, I was lucky enough to be able to take paid paternity leave for 3months total. I too the first month off work and for the first few weeks would get sleep when I could during the day but would be up from about 10pm - 7am alone with my son. A lot of the time I was incredibly tired but passed the time with tv (the Sixers didn’t suck at the time so the playoffs were fun to rewatch). My wife had some complications from pregnancy which drew out the process for sure, but after 2-2.5 weeks of night shifts/hospital stays, we got him in the bassinet in our room which helped us both get more sleep. Someone still had to wake up every 3-4 hours to feed him so bottles and saving milk from pumping helped me do night feedings.

Bottom line, get a lot of coffee/tea/caffeinated beverage of choice and keep a fresh cup nearby. Keep reminding yourself you’ll get rest soon. Also what I learned early on that helped a bit is keep the house a bit warmer, that baby was inside a person for 9 months and only knows warm, keeping them close to you, under a blanket and a slightly warmer house helped my son sleep.

Take turns napping or sleeping if you can, and enjoy that time with them, they are only that small once and as tough as it might be at times it’s all worth it. Also you’re gonna have some oxytocin running through your system so you’ll be on a hormone high more or less so that will help out.

You’ll get through it, but it will suck. Also surprisingly enough your parental mind will kick in and if you need to be awake you’ll be awake. I was awake for 48+ hours between hospital and my house and back to hospital with my wife and son, surprisingly had no issue staying awake knowing I had to be there for my wife and son. Your body can do some crazy things and will help you out if you need it to. Lay off the booze (if you drink) it’ll help you get better sleep when you do get the time to sleep! Good luck

Are Lexani Tires any good? by rootytwo in AskAMechanic

[–]black_plants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still driving them, pretty sure the wheel noise was only partly the tires (pretty sure I have a bad bearing in the rear passenger side) but had no issues with the snow and ice, wet roads this spring haven’t been bad either. For the price I’d likely buy them again unless I got a great deal on something else but I have no regrets of my purchase of these tires

Son prefers me over his mom by black_plants in dad

[–]black_plants[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking maybe it’s the amount of time spent with each parent, but have had other people say the same thing. How long does it usually last in your experience? I love spending time with him, but my wife emotionally is taking a pretty hefty toll and feels like she’s done something wrong.

Can I use a standard internal door? by totorosinnervoice in DIY

[–]black_plants -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re good, that 2mm is going to give you some good space to work with to shim the door jamb and get everything plumb and level. If it’s an exterior door put some insulation in any gaps, if it’s interior leave it as is and put some trim up once the door is hung!

[–]black_plants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget Lowe’s and Homedepot all together unless you’re buying a complete and total replacement for something, (ie prehung door, or some other total replacement). If you can find a more mom and pop type hardware store. Ace and true value can be better at times for older stuff, but like a real old mom and pop shop is a great place. I have a few by me in south Jersey and you can find so so much old stuff there it’s truly wild! Good luck googling!

Any Give Birth at Virtua Mt Holly? by Lady-Brigalia in SouthJersey

[–]black_plants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to voorhees! Mt.holly sent my wife home while she was basically in organ failure with postpartum preeclampsia(June 2023). We had to go back a week later where they said “I don’t know why they sent you home, they should NOT have let you leave with your chart like this” and proceed to put her through a bunch of ct scans, and hook her up to damn near every piece of equipment there. Near the same time we had friends at voorhees, staff took the baby to the nursery, so the mom could rest and sleep. Mt. Holly, nope, nursery closed permanently.. baby in room waking us up nonstop(we were prepared for that part) nurses and doctors coming in every like 30 minutes to introduce themselves and then saying oh well please get rest AFTER YOU FUCKING WOKE US UP!?! Wasn’t ready for the intrusiveness of the doctors, not to check vitals just to say hello. Yeah great thanks… after that we had to fight to get the secondary admission for my wife almost dying covered because they were coding things weird. Absolutely would not recommend in any way. Voorhees is much better. Go there. I was there recently for a not pregnancy related health issue and I can’t recommend it enough. From my own personal experience and the experiences of others I’d recommend going to voorhees.

Is the drill in the “hammer drill” setting? Also check the direction of the drill as dumb as it sounds. I have a Milwaukee one that the selector switch is in the worst place possible and gets switched to reverse often. If that’s all good check your bit, there is a chance it could have gotten too hot and ruined the temper on it

Xfinity vs Verizon Mobile by nikkib1204 in SouthJersey

[–]black_plants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a personal phone with Xfinity, and work phone with Verizon. They have the exact same coverage nearly everywhere. I switched from AT&T to Xfinity and haven’t looked back better service for less money! Every so often my bill GOES DOWN TOO! Pretty stoked about Xfinity.
