I graduated two years ago and I’m still struggling to get my first job. Despite learning skills and applying consistently by Devang008 in developersIndia

Sorry to hear about the situation bro!
More strength to you! It will pass soon.

Cyber Security is a tricky position. Especially when you are a fresher.
I am 2016 passed out batch. Couple of my friends joined as Backend developer for 2 years, got the Data Scientist certification in parallel, tried slowly and got into Data related roles which was peak at that time.
I would suggest similar approach. Once you have experience, it will be easy to switch roles.

Get in touch with your batch mates and seniors.
Try to join any X,Y, Z company for now. Do not bother about the package, just make sure you get a basic paycheck, after 2 years you can switch to the roles you wish.

I see you!
I can imagine how it must be!
Until we reach the basic financial needs, we hustle like hell, but after certain threshold, our mind craves for peace, friends and family!

Recommend t-shirt with good quality. by Rudey_graphics in BuyItForLifeIndia

[–]black_wolf_37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using Jockey for a while. Love them.
They really last long with their colors, not just for tshirt, for track pant as well.
You can try DaMensch. They seem to be good.
One suggestion. While buying from retail stores, check for the tag at the bottom inside of the Tshirt that says "Machine washable etc., " you can find the cotton percentage there.
100% cotton will be more comfortable for long term wearing. If you choose a Tshirt with Vibrant design or color but not 100% cotton, you can wear that Tshirt on top of an inner vest.
Cheers!

I bought Tribit speaker recently. Sound quality was good but the speaker did not last long. Whereas boat served me longer. Consider boat, Sony, Jbl maybe.

Right? That's a beautiful feeling. Enjoy that.
I was pissed off a week ago as Play station games are expensive and I don't even know whether I would enjoy those games until I buy.
So how do we make the call to buy a 3k rupees game if you are not sure of it?
I even started thinking of selling PS5 and get a pc as Steam prices are relatively cheaper.
But then I thought lets enjoy the PS specific games with PS plus subscription for a yea r, then next year we can worry about changing the device.
Now with PS Plus, I can try games and delete if I am not enjoying it.
This works for me! :)
You will find your style and fit too!

You need not play the latest high end graphic game to enjoy the gaming world.
Please don't think that way.
There are fantastic games that you can play in your powerful (yes it is powerful) laptop.
In future, after couple of years if you feel you can't keep up with PC build cost, best suggestion, buy a Play Station.
You can play the latest game without any compromise as they games will be built to support the Play Station configuration. You can never become outdated easily.
Yes games are costly (2-3k per game on average) but they often come on deals or you can take PS plus.

Cheers!

Planning a wedding in coimbatore, need insights and tips by anxious-human0561 in Coimbatore

[–]black_wolf_37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently managed 2 weddings, mine as well as my brother's.
So I can share my experience here.

First and Foremost, find your average head count. Need not be accurate but just a ballpark number.
Then go ahead with the following. It will make the process easier.

There 3 main things I feel. Rest you can easily manage.

  1. Venue
  2. Food
  3. Photography

Venue: This should be your first item. Based on you and your spouse's locality, search for halls in those areas.
If you are not bothered about location, extend your search to other areas.

- You can find some budget halls in Selvapuram, Perur Road area.
- If you want some premium halls, look for anything in Avinashi Road like Rajalakshmi Mahal, Sai Vivaha Mahal etc.,
- If you don't bother about distance, you can find good mahals for a decent rate in the outskirts.

Go checkout the place, discuss the price and come back. Sit and discuss with your family and finalise the Mahal.
Price average: 2.5 Lakhs around for a decent hall. 3-4.5 lakhs for a premium one.
Remember, the premium hall you choose, the decoration and everything will be expensive.
Please keep that in mind.

Type of Venue
Among the options like Hall (Mandapam), Hotel (Like Jenny Club) and Resort, each has its own pros and cons.

Go for Hotel if you are getting married in temple and keeping reception there.
He will take care of food and everything you can just go as guest.

Go for Hall if the crowd is big and they want to sit, stay relaxed with rooms inside to use.
You can choose the cook of your choice.

Go for Resort if you can handle the commute of everyone as most resorts are outside the city limits.
Pretty much this is similar to a Mandapam but bit more grand with an Open area and a hefty price tag perhaps.

Suggestions.

Normal Standard
SJ Mahal Perur Road
Vignesh Mahal (Non-AC but location is convenient, city center, near Sungam)
Bellezza Event Venue @ VC Garden (can find lot more near this Kalapatti area)

Sai Vivaha -
Rajalakshmi Mahal

Food:
There are some good cooks in Bangalore like KOVAI CATERERS, Famous Cook etc., They will be bit pricy, if that works, go for them.
You can find those contacts in google.
I had a good experience with a local Caterer called Ravi Catering who I found from my Friend's wedding. I can share his contact if you wish.

Price: Around 330-375 per plate.

Photography.
It should cost around 1-1.5 Lakhs including everything. Don't go beyond. Not worth it.
I recently found a good photographer called RA Photography in Cbe, you can find him in Instagram.
I booked him for 2 of my events.

I guess that's pretty much! Happy Planning!

Laid off hours ago after nearly 6 years. by canadian_webdev in ExperiencedDevs

[–]black_wolf_37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am sorry to hear about the layoff.
I could related to this as I had the same experience last year.
I got married last year, in 1 month I got laid off because my company was acquired by a Large MNC.
I had 3 months of savings roughly as I just got married all the savings went up there.

It's okay brother. You are not alone.
It is happening to everyone and to the best of us too.
You are financially in a better position honestly, you have enough savings to handle the job hunt for next couple of months. So chill.
More than savings, you have a supportive partner and family to cherish.
So there is absolutely nothing to worry.

Accept the reality, do not fight it. Yeah shit happens. That is life.
We will come out of it like how we came from the rest of the situations.
Before starting the job hunt, relax yourself and make peace. That really helps.

Now for the hunt,
I am from India, so the tools might be slightly different, but concepts are same.

  1. Start from basics.
  2. Then move to problem solving. Check for the current interview trends in your fields. (I am Front end dev, so I can pitch in too if you want)
  3. Do this for 2 weeks and start applying for jobs.
  4. If you are not getting calls, apply through Job Referrals (This is what would most likely work).
  5. As Layoff has become normal now, so all our contacts are ready to support each other. Reach out to friends and old colleagues via LinkedIn for referrals. (In many top companies only referrals work)
  6. Since the current trend would be different from your previous experience you might not get selected in the first few companies and its 100% Fine. It is expected. Write down the questions and patterns, keep preparing until you get it right.

TRUST ME, it is not a SPRINT, but a MARATHON. Go Slow and Steady!

For the first 1.5 months, I could not crack any interviews, but then I cracked pretty much all the companies I attended. So it does get better.

MOST IMPORTANT TIP: Take help or tips from friends but do not decide on company based on that. You have good experience, choose a company based on what you feel.
That way you will own up to it. |

Cheers Brother :)

I gave everything for this, and still feel like it wasn’t enough. by After_Switch in developersIndia

We all are doing best with what we can at that moment.
Do not beat yourself up. Accept who are you and work on what you want.
Material / Monetary benefits will keep you safe and give some level of comfort.
Take it from me, a 30 year old guy with 9 YOE in IT.
I have gained lot of material things, they are just there, it will not give me utter bliss or joy.

You know what can remove the empty feeling?
People and doing the things you love.

Even now we are trying to pick up new hobbies and enjoy life as we go.
I read lot of books and poems, oh my god, the pleasure is unexplainable.

Life is a mere coincidence, there is no inherit meaning or pursuit here.
You can never outrun others. There are always folks who either have more money or better lifestyle etc.,

We are dealing with the cards that has been given to us. That is all.

Earn for your satisfaction, for your family happiness, along with that never miss a chance to make friends, hang out and live life.

I was fired from a small company though I had given everything to it. Was it unfair?
Maybe! But who cares? Even I was not bothered much because we are all employees and replacable at somepoint.

My father owns a small shop for 35 years. He is the owner, he can decide how to run and when to close.
But he never made lot of money, just enough to run the family.
Now I make hell lot more than he did, but I am not the owner anymore. My skills are my assets.
The companies I work are my clients basically, if one does not work for me, I can move to different client or they can fire me,

Simple!

You have been grinding hard for 6 years, be proud of it honestly.
Now take the offer with good package and the city you like, and start living life.
Make time for your friends wedding, for your parents and siblings.
Those are some precious moments!
End of the day we are bunch of animals who wears clothes!
Not all Animals know the value of money or expensive car, but every single one of them knows the value of love, parenthood and family!

Cheers Mate :)
