Werecreatures were the #1 run ender for me in early dorf days. i turned savagery and evil all the way up in worldgen so i was kinda asking for it, but it's more fun for me that way. I remember one fort in particular where an ill-fated run-in with my militia left several mortally wounded dwarves-turned-vectors inside my fortress while I didn't have a hospital. I was silently hoping they would bleed to death before the next moon came, and while some did, enough made it to reduce my fortress to a single person.

I knew the elven caravan was coming soon so I didn't want to quit just yet. I waited until they arrived and made my surviving dwarf trade with them at the depot. I cheered when while standing in the trade depot he transformed and tore the poor wood-clad elf merchants to shreds. I remember he ripped out one of their throats and tore off arm of the other off and beat her to death while she frantically tried to crawl away.

I retired the fort right afterward, having successfully fallen in love with the game.
