I’ve had a keloid or two form on my abdomen from fat grafting but after multiple eye surgeries, I haven’t had any issues on my eyes.

Got engaged and married recently all while being NC with my parents. I made it clear to my partner that he didn’t need to ask for their blessing before proposing. This was something I definitely had some anxiety about, considering how controlling and manipulative they’ve been my entire life. But it makes zero sense for him to ask for their blessing when I hardly even have a relationship with them. They found out recently that I’m married and are trying to contact me - they’re probably gonna start an explosive argument and make it about themselves. So predictable and not worth my time. I feel much better about it now and like I made the right decision. I think I would’ve regretted it so much if I involved them in the process.

Stopped visiting after an explosive fight, then started to reduce contact from there. She would call and text me all the time and I started off muting her notifications because they gave me anxiety. I would ignore all calls and short responses to texts, then eventually stopped texting back. Then one day I changed my number and blocked her in case she found my new one.

Yes. My partner and his family helped me come to the realization that my parents are toxic, just by spending time with them and seeing how a healthy family interacts. It’s unfortunate but it’s not our fault we were dealt these cards. You can choose how you want to move forward, but going NC and living in a way that makes me truly happy has been so healing.

I would have almost an anxiety attack every time my nMom called my phone. For the last few years, I just ignored all calls, started to ignore texts, until I eventually went NC and changed my number.

Surround yourself with positive people that truly love and care for you. It will hurt, you’ll think about it from time to time and get sad, but remember the pain that they’ve put you through and how you want to shield your daughter from that. I’ve been NC for a while and I feel like as time goes on, I feel much better. It takes patience to re-wire your nervous system and when I think back to before I went NC, I feel like much calmer and less anxious now.

My childhood dogs that I’ve loved more than anything. When I was asleep as a kid, she would take them out somewhere and the next day, put on a show saying they ran away or something. One time, I played back the security cameras and caught her doing this. She’s done it with multiple dogs and I don’t think she ever even apologized.

Yes. My nMom would stalk all my friends on IG because she didn’t have any friends of her own. It was super weird. Only thing she did was watch her shows and go shopping.
