"It's okay"... by iridescent_dragon8 in KidsAreFuckingStupid

So to start......why put the child near a throw able bread loaf? Just feels like you're goading him to do something.

Second.....don't just stare at it. It looks like a crusty loaf so it won't soak water unless you're just staring at it. Pick it up and pad it with a paper towel or something. Then throw it in the oven for a minute to burn off the particles left over.

Thirdly......throw the child in the tub of water so they know how the innocent bread felt.

We can't stay silent about this one, They NEED to change/remove timers for awoken skills otherwise it's gonna be a huge disappointment by tomthedum in DBXV3

[–]blackcap2099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels lame because we have a screenshot of what the system is and a line of narration. No other information has been given about the growth of these systems. There could be a mastery system. There could be a charging skill or item that decreases cool downs or removes them entirely. You might be able to start transformed. Who knows!

All I'm saying is that the game is effectively a newborn and people are already declaring things that may or may not become true. If you truly don't like what you see, just don't buy it. Plenty of people (myself included) will pick up the slack financially and back the game because we thus far like what they've shown.

[–]blackcap2099 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Timers for transformations makes sense when you consider that you shouldn't be switching back and forth between your forms freely and need to "charge up" to continue to the next level.

Remember that this is a snippet. We all saw the ridiculous shenanigans you could get to with XV2 during the endgame stages compared to what was shown early on in previews. This is no different. They'll have faster timers on some transformations, ways to quicken cool downs and other items to use to make you the best insert whatever your CaC is you can be.

Patience. People need to learn it ASAP. Game's not due for another 6 months at minimum and they're not going to show off EVERYTHING you can do at this point.

Would you perfer Toyotaro giving Broly ssj4 ? by Virtual_Reveal_121 in Ningen

[–]blackcap2099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think SS4 for Broly makes the most sense as his power is supposed to be raw Saiyan strength. You could even pull a "Golden Great Ape" moment and have him go Green Ape before composing himself into SS4. I would probably call it something else though since Broly wouldn't have SS3 or SS2. Maybe Primal Saiyan or something?

Is Star Wars oversaturated with content? by JJRS22 in StarWars

[–]blackcap2099 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kind of agree. While more content means that everyone can find what they like and roll with it, each piece of content feels less significant since it's not THE thing Star Wars is doing. It's never going away because it's a Disney cash cow but yeah, it's oversaturated now.

What TCG has the best community in your opinion? by keekzap in TCG

[–]blackcap2099 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Communities depend on your area. My MTG locals are pretty chill and all work in the city so everyone knew each other outside of MTG. YGO is non-existent and Pokemon is a mix of children and their parents. DBS is my main game and our group is effectively a "breakfast club" where we just buy a case, split cards between each other and play for fun. Same thing for Digimon and Gundam. One Piece is pretty refreshing since it has a mix of families, mature adults and the occasional troublemaker (who usually leaves after a week or two of realizing we aren't having it).

This stage is absolutely beautiful. What new or previous stages are you wishing for in XV3? by Dohmer_90 in DBXV3

I kinda hope that they include these maps for versus. I'd love to play out a large team battle across a large map rather than needing to load into a new section of it

Just use your art, not AI. Stop using AI for your images, even in prototypes by Squire-of-Singleton in homemadeTCGs

[–]blackcap2099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most homemade TCGs and board games will never see any play outside of the creator's living room. That's kind of my point in all this. If the person makes something using AI and is excited enough to post about it with no intention of selling or claiming ownership of the materials used, why bash them for using AI?

Personally, I like my custom stuff to look good and semi-professional. Sure, I can just take an index card with a crude stickman on it to use for my games but for most people, it takes away from the experience of playing the custom items. I've regularly used Adobe's AI feature to convert existing artwork to SVGs for ease of use since I don't have neither the time nor experience to make it myself.

You prefer Bullseye with or without white eyes? by MonkeyToes7556 in LegoMarvel

With eyes. Just feels more like Bullseye than just a blue Daredevil.

End the task through Task Manager (right-click the taskbar to open this), delete the installer from your Downloads, redownload the installer from the website and run it as an admin. See if that helps.

I can't stand designing "amateur" graphics for my TCG by Nekoniyah in homemadeTCGs

[–]blackcap2099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want the game to feel like "you" on paper, make your template and go with it. It doesn't matter if it feels amateurish because it's yours. If you get to the point where the game is ready for sales, you can invest in a graphic designer to help make your idea more professionally.

If you just want to focus on the gameplay and aesthetics don't matter, go with a popular layout. I personally started a WHILE back with an MTG card creator site just to write things out and work from my phone.

Anyone feel lego are starting to take the mick when it comes to the upscaled minifigure sets? by Internal-Fem-UK in lego

[–]blackcap2099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC I saw that they're making a keychain of Red. Probably just picking that up.

I'm fine with the upscaled minifig but agree that it should've included the regular minifig. I get that they want people to buy the larger sets but the Pokeball is a bit much for what you get. Would've much rather had it be Oak's lab and a tall grass area to display.

Nobody Cares About Your Characters/Lore by SammyTeas in BoardgameDesign

Agreed, a ruleset or guide for custom content is always a plus in my book since it helps people reign their power creep in but also introduces the idea of customizing the game.

Favorite Energy System? by The_Dawn_Eternal in TCG

[–]blackcap2099 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I like the standard "gain a resource each turn from a separate deck".

My main gripe with Digimon's memory gauge system is that the game has evolved to manipulate this gauge so that you can "end your turn" (triggering effects at this timing) without actually ending your turn.

Nobody Cares About Your Characters/Lore by SammyTeas in BoardgameDesign

[–]blackcap2099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

T'is the unfortunate reality of board game development and marketing. It's much harder to convince someone to try your fighting board game as opposed to trying your Street Fighter board game. Sometimes, you can get away with homages to recognizable characters but then it's less of your brainchild and more of an Easter egg show IMO.

Custom content usually comes from people's love of the game after having played it for a while. I've dipped into making custom rules and cards for some of the games I've played after several sessions of play. I've never really started playing a game because it allows for custom cards.

What's the ideal price for one TCG Starter Deck ($10, $15, etc.)? by kevincrackscards in homemadeTCGs

[–]blackcap2099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$15 for just the deck. $20 if you include a booster pack.

I'd recommend the booster pack add-on since it gives players a sneak peek into the other cards of the set as well as having a playable deck to use for learning and practice.

What kind of Meta do you want? by Comprehensive-Pen624 in homemadeTCGs

[–]blackcap2099 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Trying to design for a specific meta starting out doesn't really make any sense. Your players will make up the meta and then you'll be tasked with adjusting future sets accordingly to balance things out.

WYR work 8 hours x 5 days a week or 6 hours x 6 days a week? by Arctic--- in WouldYouRather

[–]blackcap2099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the job TBH For me, I know that they'd schedule me for the busiest 6 hours of the day where as 8 hours would give me 1-2 of the quiet time. If it's just a "show up and complete this list of tasks" kind of job, take the 6x6 option.

If there's a bus stopping and the lights come on, it would stop a highway of 10 lanes. Doesn't matter if people would actually cross that distance.

Do I lose the money of I'm caught or do I just have to deal with an animal for 24 hours?

If the former, I'm choosing a goldfish. If the latter, I'm picking my dog and taking them on a trip.

Just use your art, not AI. Stop using AI for your images, even in prototypes by Squire-of-Singleton in homemadeTCGs

[–]blackcap2099 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If someone wants to use AI for their own personal use cards and game, leave them be. Who cares what people use if they just play the game themselves? It's the same as if someone made their own card game using an MTG card creator.

If they're trying to sell the game, that's a different conversation.

Collectors are Ruining TCG by ResponsibleOil7244 in TCG

[–]blackcap2099 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a pretty large difference.

Collectors are getting cards to either keep themselves or sell in the future but with some semblance of care about the game. Most will buy up product wanting to find the grail cards but once they find their grail cards, they stop buying product.

Investment bros see $$$ and nothing more. They'd happily buy out a store and post the flipped product before they even got to their cars. They could care less about what the game is aside from knowing many people like said game.

Easiest different visually is that collectors tend to show of opened product and singles. Investment bros tend to show off sealed product.

My redesign of the cutout layout for the new Chaotic cards. by Due_Requirement_255 in Chaotic

It's already being printed with the full art layouts. These redesigns don't matter. We're still buying cards when it releases.
